Usaf-Ali Castle and his friends couldn't help but smile Saturday morning after surviving a chaotic night at his home just outside Eatonville.
An armed man jumped through one of his windows while he was recording music around 3 a.m.
Castle's friend, affectionately nicknamed "big homie Kash," jumped up from a couch and tackled the intruder, knocking the pistol out of his hand, Castle said.
Castle then picked it up, taking matters into his own hands.
"When they separated, I shot him like four, maybe five times," Castle said.
The intruder died at the home, deputies with the Orange County Sheriff's Office said.
Detectives later identified the armed man as 20-year-old Clifford Johnson.
Johnson had a short rap sheet that dates back to 2008 when he was 14.

I've never heard a "rap sheet" (criminal record) described as "short." What exactly is the unit of measure of a "rap sheet?" Centimeters? Inches? or does the severity of the crimes listed matter? A meter of misdemeanors should not count the same as a foot of felonies. What would the conversion factor be?
ReplyDeleteI swear sometimes I wonder if these reporters even think about what they write. And, to be serious, how "short" could his criminal record be if he's 20 years old and it dates back to age 14?!

Delete:) ! You ought expound upon that as it would be publishable. :) !
After spending a year on a grand jury in the recent past, I could tell stories about rap sheets and just how few people in a county commit almost all the crimes. Who those people are and the nature and cause of those crimes. Of course I'm not allowed to talk about it.
ReplyDeleteI imagine.
DeleteSometimes it helps to visualize the whole picture. Let's see, a fellow named Usaf-Ali Castle and his buddy Big Homie Kash are "recording music" around 3 am when a 20 year old "jumps through the window with a gun".
ReplyDeleteHmmm. Sounds to me that we might be better off if they had all three been armed and formed a circular firing squad.
