Two important pro-2A bills have been introduced by both the NC House and Senate, and are under committee consideration.
NC Senate Introduces Preemption Bill Supported by GRNC
As
you know, GRNC followers have worked hard to repair the confusing
patchwork of carry restrictions enacted by misguided municipalities
across the state. These often conflicting laws make it difficult for
law-abiding gun owners to travel without unintentionally violating
obscure local ordinances.
This
type of patchwork of conflicting laws is a gun control tactic designed
to make lawful carry as difficult and legally risky as possible, in an
effort to discourage exercise of Second Amendment rights.
GRNC has successfully pushed several bills through the NC Assembly in recent years that have increased the uniformity of NC gun laws.
GRNC has successfully pushed several bills through the NC Assembly in recent years that have increased the uniformity of NC gun laws.
Despite
these successes, some anti-gun municipalities have gone to absurd
lengths to circumvent the clear intent of state preemption. Examples of
abuses include redefining dog parks as "playgrounds" and lakes as
"swimming pools" to enact bans.
On Tuesday, NC Senator Jeff Tarte (R, Mecklenburg, GRNC-****) introduced Senate Bill 394, the "Preemption Affirmation Act". Among other things, this bill will make municipal leaders who violate state preemption of local gun laws personally liable and subject to significant personal fines. A similar law in FL has effectively curtailed municipal insubordination in the Sunshine State.

Senator President Pro Tempore Phil Berger (R, Guilford, Rockingham, GRNC-****) and Senators Tom Apodaca (R, Buncombe, Henderson, Transylvania, GRNC-****) and Buck Newton (R, Johnston, Nash, Wilson, GRNC-****) are expected to arrange a prompt hearing for SB 394.
This
is an important pro-2A bill that will require input from GRNC
supporters to pass. Watch for coming Alerts on the issue and make time
to respond to action items.
HB7 Passes NC House
House Bill 7, "Amend Firearm Restoration Law", introduced by Representatives Michael Speciale (R, Beaufort, Craven, Pamlico, GRNC-****) and Larry Pittman (R, Cabarrus, GRNC-****)
has already passed the NC House and is now being considered by the
Senate Rules Committee. It will undo damage caused by 1995 (following
passage of the federal Brady Act) and 2004 amendments to the NC Felony
Firearms Act. It is another pro-2A bill that deserves GRNC support.

As far back as Roman times the Senate always takes it up the arse when a despotic dictator takes power. If these guys believe for a second that they are going to need a lot of help in a really big hurry, which they will, they need to make sure the right equipment gets in the right hand and in a hurry. We the people are their only hope and they better know whose side they are on if they expect a favorable result in the coming elections
