Army calls armed citizens at recruiting centers a security threat

Since the horrific terrorist shooting at a Marine recruiting center in Chattanooga last week that killed five service members, citizens have been standing guard outside recruiting centers all over the country.

Last Friday, we told you about a man in Winchester, Virginia who started standing guard outside the military recruitment center the day after the attack in Tennessee. At the time, he asked us not to use his name, but the reaction to his actions has been so powerful that we can give you his name now -- Rick Hewitt.

But according to Stars and Stripes, the Army has put out a new directive to their recruiters to treat these armed citizens as a security threat.

Another group of men standing guard at a different recruiting center in Virginia say the Army’s order is an insult to them.

  1. Now I wonder how high up the Chain of Command it had to go to decide not to do anything to defend the Recruitment Centers but "pull the blinds" and call these Patriots "security threats."

  2. Since the news nowadays is global, I'm guessing Russia and China are a little less worried about US troops after this. Tough American soldiers can't handle guns and hide behind blinds while old men protect them.

  3. Old joke here,
Question; What is the difference between the Boy Scouts and the Army?
Answer; The Boy Scouts have adult leadership.
Somebody in the chain of command is a PC idiot and clueless. Why would anyone want to join the military if the best advice on how defend yourself against an ISLAMIC TERRORIST, who is on JIHAD and want to KILL YOU is to pull the blinds. Hey PC idiots if any of the Patriots were a real security threat, there would already be dead bodies. What a blindingly stupid RP move here. Call your fellow American citizens, who in a time of danger, show a willingness to put themselves at risk, to come to your aid a "security threat".What a way for the military to show its' appreciation to the general public and win the hearts and minds. NOT!

Couldn't have thought of anything more insane.

  4. Of course. Totally predictable. The PC military has had decades of inclusiveness beaten into them. The only way they have left to identify "the enemy" is "carrying guns and not wearing a uniform like ours".

It's worth mentioning that the military is every bit as Nanny-nazi on other issues too. For instance, even in state that have mandatory annual vehicle safety inspections, the local commanders often require all personnel to get their private vehicles inspected for safety prior to departing on long weekends and leaves. Thos inspections are of course farsical since the person doing the inspections doesn't know what to look for other than functioning lights and tire tread. Military officers STILL think that privates sell their own tires at pawn shops to get beer money and put bald tires on in the mean time till next payday. It may have happened once in Germany in 1965 but the institutional Army has never forgotten the basic rule: We can't trust our own soldiers to live their own lives without getting into trouble.

      Sad and thanks.

  5. This is why obama purged military leadership. To leave no one but ass-kissing generals more interested in their own promotion than in the troops welfare. And yes, I no longer even capitalize our traitor-in-chief’s name.

    1. No. There is No purge. Military leadership has been fully supportive of this policy long before Obama. Military generals are liberal control freaks. They have been for a very long time. It is part and parcel of how they got to be generals.

  6. Not only does the institutional Army not trust our own soldiers, especially under the last two Administrations (to be fair, but definitely worse under Soetoro), the PTB don't mind our soldiers serving as sitting ducks to be killed and maimed rather than have any collateral damage among our Enemies. They make a very good case for no more wars unless it is to protect America. Allies? What Allies? All that needs to be re-evaluated, too.

  7. On the more sensible side, Attacks like this in the USA are VERY rare events. There is no reason at all why you as a taxpayer should stand for arming up or armoring up military sites like this. A recruiting station is a businessoffice, like the PX gas station. It is not intended to be a defense post. Like everything else in real life, policy should be based on an assessment of real life risks and assignment of resources to most likely threats. Much more military active people are killed every year by murder than by terrorists. Even far more kill themselves. and topping the list is still traffic accidents. Military authorities have plenty of nanny-nazi programs to reduce suicide and accidents. (they don't work either). It is simply bad policy to try to defend against every possible threat. As the saying goes, if safety is your highest priority, stay home. I personally WANT and expect my military to put themselves at risk to safeguard their communities, not the other way around. Until Walmart has armed guards patroling their parking lots and checking IDs, you would not see that at military recruitment stations.

    1. Thanks, but I see no reason they shouldn't be allowed to CCW like civilians do.

  8. What is a security risk is what this dishonorable fed gov allowed into our country.
Hell, for all I know, since the fed's work with ISIS, they set this up.
These honorable men are doing what is not being done. God bless their patriotism.
