Democrats drop Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson from dinner name

Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson are history in Connecticut.

Under pressure from the NAACP, the state Democratic Party will scrub the names of the two presidents from its annual fundraising dinner because of their ties to slavery.

Party leaders voted unanimously Wednesday night in Hartford to rename the Jefferson Jackson Bailey dinner in the aftermath of last month’s fatal shooting of nine worshipers at the historic black church in Charleston, S.C.

The decision is believed to be unprecedented and could prompt Democrats in other states with similarly-named events to follow suit.

    They aren't even close to stopping. The masks are being removed making it easier to differentiate the good from the bad. Lists should be made....

    By all means, change it to Kennedy. Joe Kennedy allegedly bootlegged rum during Prohibition and made a small fortune. That sounds very Democrat.

    CT is likely to reach terminal velocity long before the other states. Not surprised to see us leading the Red Menace Effort once again. This state is toast. Anyone with any money started to make plans to leave in 08 as the writing was on the wall that this "welfare project" was going to continue on a terminal path at light speed. There is still the minor 300,000 gun felon problem as well.
