Saudi Arabia has called on Bashar al-Assad to give up power or be removed by force, raising the global stakes at a time when the Russians are shipping troops and military hardware to Syria in an effort to prop up its beleaguered leader.
The threat was made on Tuesday by Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister, Adel Al-Jubeir.
“There is no future for Assad in Syria,” Jubeir told journalists at the UN general assembly. “There are two options for a settlement in Syria. One option is a political process where there would be a transitional council. The other option is a military option, which also would end with the removal of Bashar al-Assad from power.”

I am NOT impressed. The Saudi foreign minister is out of touch with reality. And is the kindest thing I can say. He is all bark and zero bit. First Saudi Arabia, is state that lacks the military fire power to impose its' will on any one. Saudi Arabia has a conflict/war going on with Yemen and is currently losing. It is about of a mismatch as McClellan going against Stonewall Jackson.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, Russia will have the final say in the matter. The ONLY way Bashar is going to be removed from power is if the Russians let it happen. As for the FUSA, the open secret is that we can not back up our words with real action. Sec of State Lurch has about much respect and influence as does antichrist Obama with his red line drawn in the sand. If we here in the FUSA and any real leadership and the will to actually use our once formidable military might, we would be giving orders to the Saudis, whose only reply would be a "sir, yes sir". The implied threat would be, you damn well WILL do what we tell you to do and when, otherwise, Mecca and Media will be a large radioactive tract of desert glass within the hour. I can only dream of such a day.

Reminds me of Hitler's plan to make Moscow one big lake.
Weren't some of the participants in the 911 attack from Saudi Arabia?
ReplyDeletePrecisely.
DeleteSaudi Arabia = Sunni = backers of anti-Assad forces & ISIS
ReplyDeleteAssad = secular, but leans Shia = mortal enemies of Sunnis.
Put 2+2 together and you'll see that the Saudis are still manipulating/purchasing Washington politicians and the American military to do their dirty work against a sect they want to eliminate.
Personally, I'd like to see them all wipe each other out.
Saudi Arabia is our worst enemy in that area, followed closely by Pakistan.
Thanks and they would have to wipe out each other for their fighting to cease.
DeleteIt seems iranian and hezbolah troops are getting ready for a ground offensive now that russian air has softened things up. Isreal seems a tad bit concerned as well. This could be interesting.
ReplyDeleteMight win an Academy Award. :)
