Yesterday as I was leaving the pier about eight as I usually do each evening after walking on the beach, pier and then spending time with fellow degenerates under the pier having a few beers, I was stopped by a beautiful and friendly cop maybe 25 years old. Since my CCW permit expires every 10 years, I had sent in the renewal two months early, but still hadn't received it, so I was open carrying. Once stopped, I put both hands out the window and informed the lady that my open carry was on the passenger's seat, she glanced and said thank you for telling me. To make a long story short, she said she would put my weapon in her waistband until we were finished and then place it back in the same location after all was over. Afterwards, she stated the quoted subject words. This is the second time that a similar occurrence has happened to me and a lesson to those who might be killed in similar stops, THINK!

Emerald Isle, NC Cop: "Thank You For Carrying. We Back This 100%"

Sounds like the South is a good place
ReplyDelete:) Where do you live?
DeleteAt present I am in the Ukraine
DeleteI see. How are things there?
DeleteStable. Thanks to the good Lord things are OK. I hope they stay that way. Thanks for asking.
DeleteCertainly.
DeleteAs much as I resent those who claim 'authority', I do have to admit, of the dozen times I've been pulled over by NC statue enforcement officers while carrying a gun, they have never taken one away and treated me in a respectable manner in the process. Of course, I know the rules such as unloaded while on a roadway, which trips some ppl up.
ReplyDeleteIs that a run on sentence or what?
unloaded while on a roadway, which trips some ppl up.
DeleteFirst I've heard of that. In fact I told the cop mine was loaded when she picked it up. That sounds like a CA law.
It's an old hunting statute, for poachers back in the day. Had an associate charged recently, on that very statute, urban area. Told him, when he showed me the pistol, "If you get pulled over, remove the mag and empty the chamber". But of course who listens? He had a legit reason for concern for his safety.
DeleteCarry anyway you want, but cops will find any excuse if they choose. Too many statues on the books, IMO.
I am unable yo find anything on this online. Do you have a link?
Delete"In NC, whether the gun is loaded or not has no bearing on whether it's legal or not. If you carry 15 fully loaded HKs and AKs on the dash and hood of your car, you are OK."
Second time responding, ask a wildlife/fish & game agent.
DeletePS there is a limit on the number of rounds you can have loaded in a single mag, potential charge of felony WMD.
If there really are these rules, they would be online, so if you would like to find the links, that would prove your point/s.
