South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham, always known for his candor, said it best.
“If you killed Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate, and the trial was in the Senate, nobody would convict you.”
Cruz has made a career out of being one of the most underhanded and hated men in politics. He’s universally despised in the Senate – and not just by his colleagues on the Democratic side of the aisle.
During his address at last night’s Republican National Convention, Cruz once again proved why. He cemented his legacy as a bottom-feeder – a belly-crawling snake without equal.
GOP nominee Donald Trump’s biggest mistake during this 2016 election season may have been allowing Cruz to speak at the RNC – a concession to a Republican Party calling for unity.
And while Trump acted with class and took the high road, Cruz did what he does best. He stabbed Trump in the back.
Cruz was met with loud boos (and a near-riot) for failing to endorse Trump, or to really mention him by name. And he told Republicans to simply vote their conscience, which was a clear nod to some of the language used by the “Dump Trump” movement.

ReplyDeletePerfect.
DeleteI have to disagree. Cruz submitted the speech to Trumps people and they approved it. Trump knew Cruz was going to stop short of a full endorsement and agreed to let him speak anyway. Trump set Cruz up and he fell for it. Trump had operatives in the audience that egged on the booing and Trump entered the arena, shown on jumbo-tron precisely timed to disrupt Cruz's speech.
ReplyDeleteLook I'm all in for Trump now. I have no choice but if there's a snake it's Trump. I wouldn't trust him in a shit house with a muzzle on. Fortunately, with all his faults, he's way better than the Hilldabeast.

DeleteHow do you know he stuck to it?

I heartily disagree, as much as they have tried, there has not been one person who worked for Trump throughout his lifetime who has said anything bad about him.
I believe "sly as a fox" would better describe Trump. Trump extended an olive branch to Cruz be inviting him to speak. Did Ted fall into a trap devised by Donald or his advisers? Maybe he did or maybe he did not. We need someone on the side of right who is that crafty in the White House to deal with the Congress, Senate, foreign governments, etc.
ReplyDeleteOne article said that Trump allowed Cruz to speak as a favor to the establishment Republicans. Did you see this one?

I did not see that particular article, but I heard Cruz and someone in the Trump camp say that they had read Ted's speech and approved it hours before Ted spoke.
DeleteCertainly possible, but if the article above is correct, they had nothing to lose.
Delete"what (would)Trump would gain from a Cruz endorsement (?) Not One Darn Thing! On the other hand, what does Trump get from Cruz’s refusal to endorse? Media excitement, controversy, and a “Bad Guy,” a “Snidely Whiplash,” the evil cowboy dressed all in black for the audience to unite against and hate."
I still have a better opinion of Cruz than Lindsey Graham. Graham is a progressive rino and is only too happy to jump on the anti-Cruz bandwagon. McConnell and Ryan are his real political enemies and Trump needs to find a way to neuter both. Perhaps keeping Cruz close by as a pitbull to set upon the unreformed and in the shadows antiTrumpers is his best use.

DeleteAgreed, but his statement was just showing how disliked Cruz is in the Senate by both Republicans and Democrats.
I suspect these same senators from both sides of the isle wouldn't like Trump one bit better. However, I do think they fear Trump more...and the primaries pretty well showed that along the usual rino reactions.
DeleteI believe they don't like Cruz because of his personality and Trump because he can't be bought.
