I love this song. This song is an anthem for the destruction of the South. The period 1860-1866, proves just how history is written by the victors. Propaganda trumps the truth. Widespread lies about the causes and effects. Practically nothing, taught in schools is true. One hundred and fifty years of indoctrination and no one knows the truth. Unless, a person actually studies the true history from before it was “cleansed” and rewritten for the history the winners wanted told.

Absolutely.
DeleteAn old favorite ! I never liked the Joan Baez version.
ReplyDeleteShe'd be embarrassed to do it today.
DeleteNo one could sing it like Levon...and I loved his short piece in the Shooter. He is missed.
