A 41-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the attack. Two of the female tourists suffered facial injuries from the incident, which occurred at the Saint Charles train station. One of the women may have an eye injury, a spokeswoman for the Marseille prosecutor's office told the Associated Press.
All four of the tourists were in the 20s and have been hospitalized, the spokeswoman said. Two of the victims were sent to the hospital because they were in shock.
There are no immediate indications the attack is related to terrorism, the spokeswoman said.
However, because the investigation is in its beginning stages, terror links cannot be ruled out, the Associated Press reported.
