In a political year that has blown up conventional wisdom, the special election to fill the Alabama Senate seat vacated by Sen. Jeff Sessions’ confirmation to Attorney General, may further upend the status quo.
In an August 15th GOP primary,
controversial former Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, Roy
Moore, bested interim Senator Luther Strange by roughly 6 percent,
forcing a September 26 run-off. On primary night, Moore touted his
maverick reputation.

This is a very impressive new development. It is great to hear that things are changing for the better already
ReplyDeleteYes indeed.
DeleteEven here in the North, this race is being watched. The GOP candidate, just got crushed by a Trump independent. This had better send a message. Support your President, of be run out of office. However, I expect in their arrogant bubble world, they will continue as normal. They are locked into the paradigm, only republicans and democrats can play in Washington. Democrats and Republicans have not yet realized there is a storm coming.
ReplyDeleteAnd that storm is Americans. Citizens, both democrat and republican, are tired of watching their party, care about everyone in the world, except them. American citizens are tired of watching politicians, get rich with bribes for favorable legislation. Americans, are tired of watching their culture being destroyed and rewritten, while politicians either ignore or support the revisionist history. Americans, of all races, are tired of watching politicians inflame race relations.
I still hope President Trump, can stop the coming civil war.
Agree fully. Thanks.
DeleteWhy the heck is Trump opposing this guy? Sad!
ReplyDeleteI was dumbfounded when I first heard this also.
DeleteI'm all for the Judge. I think Trump was just signaling to McConnell that he could support some of McConnell's positions (Strange) IF (and a big if) McConnell would support Trump positions. I just don't think McConnell is bright enough to follow along. A warning shot was the quick debt limit move that caught McConnell flat footed. indyjonesouthere
DeleteI too regret the President has endorsed Luther Strange. I even wrote to the White House expressing what a bad idea I thought it was. I think the only reason Trump is "backing" Strange is political "payback". Former Sen. and now Atty. Gen. Sessions advised Trump from the beginning and was the first U.S. Senator to endorse Donald Trump. After Trump won and appointed Sessions AG, the Senate seat had to be filled. During this time we had a sexual/mildly criminal scandal going on with our past Gov. Robert Bentley (I won't go into that now). Strange was the pick of Sessions and ultimately Bentley to fill Jeff Sessions Senate seat (personally, I like and have supported Jeff Sessions, though lately in his role as U.S. Atty. Gen. he has disappointed me and many more with his unconstitutional confiscatory policies). The traitorous Mitch McConnell is supporting Strange and that is enough to turn me against him. Trump is not going "all out" and I believe wisely so. The Strange camp is spending enormous amounts of money on this election. Most of these are negative ads which attack Judge Roy Moore and distort the truth. Moore has not ran the first "attack ad". Everyone I talk too about his are so "turned off" by the negative ads that I feel "Big Luther" is doomed. Many politicians such as Strange are no different than their liberal counterparts and do not understand why Trump was elected and continue to make the same mistakes. Strange is the establishment/Swamp. Moore is a Christian patriot, West Point graduate, Vietnam combat veteran, who has stood up to the tyranny of the federal government and I believe he will win. The detractors will then turn this victory into a political slant against the President saying something like "Trump won Alabama in a landslide, but now his constituents have turned against him by rejecting Luther Strange who Trump endorsed, blah, blah, blah". Good luck and Godspeed Roy Moore!

DeleteMay well be.

Prescient.
Having closely followed the news around Bentley, Strange, the postponed investigation, and the subsequent choice of the replacement to fill the Senate seat, I would have to say I wouldn't trust Luther Strange any farther than I could throw him.
DeleteThe fact that his opponent is Roy Moore makes it all the more sure.
Roy Moore for U.S. Senator!
Central Alabamaian
Hear! Hear!
DeleteTrump is trying to appease the establishment RINO's. But they are not reciprocating! Support and enforce those who support you and your agenda, Mr. President! Judge Roy Moore has consistently and courageously supported the Constitution and has been targeted and penalized by Republicans who do not support "a republican form of government" (Article IV, Section 4). Endorse him! --Ron W

DeleteYes, Sir!
"Endorse", I meant to say. --Ron W :-)
