The "identification" of the woman seen for seconds in a bad 1945 combat film is suspect at best. The letter is even more suspect, and barring confirmatory evidence or documentary records from the US Army all we have to go on is the film. It shows an unknown woman on a litter who has been pulled ALIVE from a civilian car that is later destroyed. Treated by US Army medics. Disposition of said civilian remaining unknown. I know that US Army medics don't abandon wounded once they begin treatment. I know that the film shows a casualty being taken to a forward aid station. The film shows ONE car and ONE (male) set of human remains. That's it. Everything else smells of commie news media going: SEE SEE, They MURDERED CIVILANS.--Ray
That one I can answer. My cousin married a German girl in the early 60's while stationed in Germany. She had survived the war in one of the cities. She told my Mother once: "You see we were all numb, just so numb by the end of the war. You could go outside and if the bombing had stopped you were numb to everything else. Everything was just too awful to feel fear or horror anymore". That always stuck with me. How things could be so bad for so long that you were just numb from it.---Ray
