Republican congressman Steve Scalise (pictured) slammed the DOJ's decision not to open an investigation as 'outrageous' and demanded justice for the families of people who died in the state's nursing homes.
DOJ sent a letter Friday to several Republican Congress members saying it will not probe whether the state violated the civil rights of nursing home residents.
Under Trump in August, the DOJ requested COVID-19 data in nursing homes from four Democrat states - New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Michigan.
Cuomo had issued a directive on March 25 2020 ordering nursing homes to readmit COVID-positive patients because of a lack of space in hospitals.
The move was slammed for costing many lives and was reversed that May Cuomo's office has been accused of covering up the extent of nursing home deaths and hiding the data from the DOJ.

This is just the latest in a long string of abstentions from their duties. The Rule of Law has been supplanted by the arbitrary rule of men. I suppose it has been working towards this for quite a long time but only evident to most people since 2005 certainly by 2012. Now they don't even try to hide behind the illusion. Pray tell what the next 3, five, tens years hold in store.
ReplyDeleteSince the Rule of Law, while not dead for it continues to exist in the hearts of good people, is severely diminished, we should endeavor to follow suit, to play by their own rules as it were. In this, our only limitation is that which we can imagine.
A clarity of objective becomes. Out of the jurisprudence forest and onto the lawless open plain, there are no forbidding horizons; this is the field on which there are no barriers, no 'off limits'.
