A Metolius, Oregon, couple is mourning the loss of their son after a tragic turn of events Monday night in which the father fatally shot his own son, claiming it was self-defense.
According to local media, 45-year-old Mark Province was intoxicated when he kicked in the door to his 72-year-old parents’ house around 11 p.m. and began assaulting them. The mother, Mary, then hid in a bathroom and called 911, while the father, Roger, continued fighting with their son.
At some point Roger fired two shots from his .38-caliber and struck Mark a single time in the chest. When officers arrived at the home a short time later, Mark was pronounced dead.

Definately a sad story. I have a friend who has a son that is bi polar and very ornery and violent towards his family. The court system has been no help to them and its just a matter of time before someone really gets hurt. What this kid needs is hospitalization but the system dont want to spend $$$ on mental illness. I feel terrible that this poor old couple suffered such abuse at the hands of their son. And bad that his father had to shoot him to stop him. May these folks find peace and may their son find the peace in death he could not find in his life.

DeleteThanks for the personal remarks and I hope so also.
The system has been redesigned so that those who need serious psych help do not get it. Because of the ACLU and the laws changed , you can no longer institutionalize anyone until after they have harmed someone or themself.
ReplyDeleteWe also had a local incident where the guy couldnt get incarcerated after pulling a gun on his elderly parents; failed suicide attempt by death by cop, so he finally got drunk and drove into a large tree at 90mh.
Shame this parent will have to bear this pain of losing so by his own hand.
