(This post is something you can send to your friends or print out and hand to them when SHTF.)
Dear Friend:
I love my friends, but I will shoot you if I have to. I’m serious. Here’s why.
I tried to persuade you to prepare for what’s coming and, in the process, revealed that to you that I’m preparing. You realized that I have food, guns, etc., and ended up saying, half kidding but half serious, “I’ll come to your place when SHTF.”
No you won’t. I will shoot you. If you threaten me and my family, I will use force to defend against any threat. And showing up at my place hungry and unprepared is a threat to me. You will eat my food and use up my medical supplies, generator, firewood, etc. That’s less of these life-saving things for me and my family. That’s a threat.

Fortunately our "shtf " camp is virtually unknown to my friends. I have 4 friends who are allowed to bring their wifes and children. Each of my friends have a special skill set and all can defend. The camp has a great fresh water supply and a diversity of terrain that offers some great benefits. Over the years Ive excavated and re enforced some caves big enough to park campers in and hide them. Anybody that shows up after shtf may be turned away or may be fed and then sent away. Although I dont think we can ever be totaly prepared Im sure trying to be.

DeleteAmazing. What state? I loved to go caving when I was in military school in WV.
I actually excavated the caves myself with my own equipment. Years ago I happened into a crapload of steel i beams that a guy gave me and a bunch of pre stressed concrete panels. The one cave is 30feet deep and 14feet wide. I installed good drainage and ventilation and actualy managed a water source just outside. Ive never taken pics but I will send you some the next time I go up.
ReplyDeleteThanks and that would be neat.

Yeh well... I had one of the local "prep nuts"(AKA "bunker rodent" ) mouthing off about this down at the range the other day. He went on for ten or twenty min. about "running off or killing" ANYONE that "came near" the super secret rodent bunker. My comment: OK ; But if you come to our place expecting medical treatment (My wife is an APRN/NP) you can and will get shot your self. His reply? "But you HAVE to treat us its our right!---- People like the man who wrote this little screed are the worst kind of people to have in a survival group post TEOTWAWKI. They sow unrest , make enemy's, and do everything they can to disrupt the group for there own advantage. They are born Democrats who cover themselves in an evil "me first", "its good to be king", slime and do everything they can to isolate and infect as many others as they can. Y'all know what happens to people who WON'T form survival groups and pool resources "after"? Look up the Donner party. ----Ray

DeleteSeems like he plans on being alone which is foolish unless you have a large extended family.
This is a conundrum, which has troubled me. I have set in a supply of resourced designated to be given away. My intent is not to distribute them for the first few weeks or months of an event. I hate sounding harsh but if you have done nothing to prepare then the world is probably better with your absence. My plan is to aid those that planned but not well enough. If they have survived the first six months then they had prepared and have the skills needed to continue to survive. My hope is by helping those with the skills to survive will in return aid me in the future. I just do not know if I can turn away a sheeple family with hungry children.

DeleteGive them something to eat and a hoe afterwards.
God bless! YES! Feed 'em and teach them to work. It's a lesson lost for far to many.---Ray

DeleteIndeed.
One of the biggest threats will be desperation. If that one random person or family happens upon you and yours, I believe in helping if possible/permissible but there begs the question: "Will they come back by force"? And we can't necessarily put up " No trespassing" signs around the perimeter of our bug-out locations without compromising them...

"Will they come back by force"?
DeleteYes.
a go away bag with food and basic supplies and a stern warning "Do not come back here if and when this runs out. There will be no more. God's Speed."
DeleteUnimaginable when I grew up.
DeleteIts a big can of worms for sure, to be dealt with on a case by case basis. Because we are humans and are supposed to be "more evolved" it is in our nature to help those in need. But when we loose all our comforts and luxuries we must revert to being more like the animals we are. Animals die in nature every day and that is a fact of nature. If we chose to help others at our expense it is a choice. None of us will live forever on this earth. As a Christian I will help if I can. If I cant then God forgive me.
ReplyDeleteCharity begins at home, as my mother would say. Something our worthless government needs pounded in it's head.
