Summer In Dixie

Via Richard, SWR
=================================================================
I'm so glad you finally called
It's been way too long
How's New York and you been getting on?

You say you're prayin' for one whole week
Well, let me just tell you
The weather here's been kind of crazy too

Summer in Dixie, sure been cold
Even when the sun burns hot enough
There'd be tar on the road
Way down in my heart, a north wind blows
Summer in Dixie, sure been cold

Now if Manhattan turns you on
Do what you gotta do
Don't worry how I'll make it without you

I'll just here on the porch
And wait here for the breeze
To whisper your name through the willow trees

Summer in Dixie, it sure been cold
Even when the sun burns hot enough
There'd be tar on the road
Way down in my heart, a north wind blows
Summer in Dixie, sure been cold

You know I'd never
Talk about the weather

Summer in Dixie, sure been cold
Even when the sun burns hot enough
There'd be tar on the road
Way down in my heart, a north wind blows
Summer in Dixie, sure been cold
Summer in Dixie, sure been cold

UNIONS THREATEN BUSINESS

"That's a nice business you got there. Pity if anything were to happen to it if, say, you didn't toe the line and denounce Governor Walker like we're asking nice-like."

March 10, 2011

Mr. Tom Ellis, President
Marshall & Ilsley Corporation
770 N. Water Street
Milwaukee, WI 53202

SENT VIA FASCIMILE AND REGULAR MAIL

Dear Mr. Ellis:

As you undoubtedly know, Governor Walker recently proposed a “budget
adjustment bill” to eviscerate public employees’ right to collectively bargain in
Wisconsin.

As you also know, Scott Walker did not campaign on this issue when he ran for
office. If he had, we are confident that you would not be listed among his largest contributors. As such, we are contacting you now to request your support.

The undersigned groups would like your company to publicly oppose Governor
Walker’s efforts to virtually eliminate collective bargaining for public employees in Wisconsin. While we appreciate that you may need some time to consider this request, we ask for your response by March 17. In the event that you do not respond to this request by that date, we will assume that you stand with Governor Walker and against the teachers, nurses, police officers, fire fighters, and other dedicated public employees who serve our communities.

In the event that you cannot support this effort to save collective bargaining,
please be advised that the undersigned will publicly and formally boycott the
goods and services provided by your company. However, if you join us, we will
do everything in our power to publicly celebrate your partnership in the fight to
preserve the right of public employees to be heard at the bargaining table.
Wisconsin’s public employee unions serve to protect and promote equality and
fairness in the workplace. We hope you will stand with us and publicly share that ideal.

In the event you would like to discuss this matter further, please contact the executive Director of the Wisconsin Professional Police Association, Jim Palmer, at 608.273.3840.

Thank you in advance for your consideration. We look forward to hearing from you soon. View Image

ATF Lied, Mexicans Died

"It has been driving me crazy that Barack Obama had a press conference today and not one single question was asked about Project Gunwalker. There was not one single question about Wisconsin and the death threats made by union members against government officials. Okay, I know these are special subjects for me and all, but even objectively...right?

Am I crazy to think that a scandal that has finally gotten some light shed on it over the past few weeks isn't worthy of comment? Okay, the death of a U.S. Customs agent at the hands of a band of criminals down on the border which might have been the fault of the Department of Justice? No? No questions about that? Hmmmmm, what about the accusation that despite their friendly banter the other day when President Calderon visited, the Obama Administration might be responsible for the deaths of at least 150 Mexican nationals by letting guns flow south of the border? No? Still no? Dang."

Senator Grassley: Justice Department MUST Be Part Of Gunwalker Investigation!

One of the key ATF whistle-blowers to have complained about the gun-running operation was ignored when he originally sought the inspector general's intervention.

In a letter this week to the integrity committee of the Council of Inspectors General, U.S. Sen. Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa), who is probing the Fast and Furious operation as the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said the Justice Department's own role in supervising the operation must also be part of the investigation.

"Given that the [inspector general's office] initially failed to follow up, it might have an incentive to minimize the significance of the allegations in order to avoid the appearance that its own inaction contributed to the problem in the last few months," Grassley wrote.

Videos & Pictures: Cruise ship and bullet train go missing as Hawaii and Pacific are put on alert for 33-foot tsunami waves

Giant fireballs rise from a burning oil refinery in Ichihara, Chiba Prefecture (state) after Japan was struck by a strong earthquake off its northeastern coast Friday, March 11, 2011.

"A large number of tourists are thought to be among 400 passengers feared drowned after a high-speed bullet train and cruise ship went missing following the devastating Japanese earthquake earlier today.

Thousands of people were forced to flee for their lives as the massive wave bore down on them, sweeping away everything in its path."

HSLDA Alert: Senate Close to Halting Childs Rights Convention

From the HSLDA E-lert Service

Senate Close to Halting Childs Rights Convention

Dear HSLDA Members and Friends:

Yesterday afternoon in the U.S. Senate, Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) introduced SR 99, a resolution opposing ratification of the United Nations’ Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). Joining him are 28 original cosponsors, and two more senators signed up with his office last night.

This means SR 99 already has 31 of the 34 senators needed to prevent ratification of this dangerous treaty for the rest of this Congress.

Please take a moment to see if your senators are already on board. If not, their D.C. phone number is provided. Please call and ask them to contact Senator DeMint and cosponsor SR 99. Please don’t be harsh—assume they just haven’t heard yet and you are calling their attention to this new resolution.

(If your senators are already on board, consider sending them a card thanking them for their stand. Find their web addresses by clicking on your state at the ParentalRights.org website.)

Last year, we fell just short of having the votes needed to stop the CRC. We need to redouble our efforts now.

In just a few days we expect the Parental Rights Amendment will be reintroduced in both houses of Congress. The conditions are right for real gains in both chambers. We especially expect action in the House committees very soon.

Your financial support for ParentalRights.org right now is crucial for our ability to stop the UN power grab over our families. Your gift of $10, $25, $50, or $100 is truly needed if we are to have the staff and resources for victory.

Gratefully,

Michael Farris

Texas: New Black Panther Leader Justifies Gang Rape of 11-Year-Old Hispanic Girl

"Racial divisions have surfaced in the town of Cleveland, 40 miles north of Houston, ever since last Thanksgiving's alleged gang rape of an 11-year old Hispanic girl.

Most of the 17 suspects accused of sexually assaulting the preteen girl are black. And on Thursday night, community activist Quanell X hosted a rally there."

Rep. Allen West slams military diversity report

"In an interview with The Daily Caller, West, who is black, was not pleased with the report, saying that the military is not a social experiment for outside groups to impose their theories. Rather, he said, it is a merit based organization where anybody can succeed.

“Everyone that comes into the military has an equal opportunity to get promoted to the next level. It is not about outside entities trying to engineer and design results and outcomes or create a sense of equal achievement and when some military diversity group writes a report saying there are too many white men on top,” West said. “It is kind of a slap in the face to those who have risen through the ranks such as four star General [Lloyd] Austin, [General] Kip Ward, many others. We don’t need these outside entities trying to design or shape a military.”

West continued by noting that many confuse privileges with rights. To West, it is a privilege to serve in the military. He also said it is not an institution with which outsiders should tinker, especially while engaged in conflicts abroad."

"Guns Are Emergency Management Tools"

=================================================================
Oleg Volk

"Among people I know who’ve had to defend themselves, PTSD is a great deal less prevalent in those who were successful. A person who is injured in a self-defense situation would have nightmares about it, while a person who succeeded in avoiding injury is not. The correlation is not perfect but very strong."

Guns are emergency management tools.

"Guns are emergency management tools.

As with medical supplies or firefighting equipment, the training and the experience of the user is extremely important. But a physician without his tools is unlikely to be effective tending to a health emergency, same as a defender without her tools would be hard-pressed to manage a social emergency. In the end, the difference may be life and death (or a permanent disability), depending on the availability of both knowledge and equipment."

"[A]ll are subject by nature to equal laws of morality, and in society have a right to equal laws for their government, yet no two men are perfectly equal in person, property, understanding, activity, and virtue, or ever can be made so by any power less than that which created them … all are subject by nature to equal laws of morality, and in society have a right to equal laws for their government."

"Today in 1864 commenced the Union Army's Red River Campaign into upper Louisiana from New Orleans. In that campaign the Union Army [sic] committed more atrocities against slaves and other civilians, & was responsible for more slave deaths, than any other I am aware of. You can read about it in the affidavits assembled by the Louisiana governor's commission not long after the fact."

Kitchen Prayer

Lord of all pots and pans and things
Since I’ve not time to be
A saint by doing lovely things or
Watching late with Thee
Or dreaming in the dawn light or
Storming Heaven’s gates
Make me a saint by getting meals and
Washing up the plates.

Although I must have Martha’s hands,
I have a Mary mind
And when I black the boots and shoes,
Thy sandals Lord I find.
I think of how they trod the earth,
What time I scrub the floor
Accept this meditation Lord,
I haven’t time for more.

Warm all the kitchen with Thy love,
And light it with Thy peace
Forgive me all my worrying and make
My grumbling cease.
Thou who didst love to give men food,
In room or by the sea
Accept this service that I do,
I do it unto Thee.
