The Tyrant

A gift of time.

Oleg Volk

In an hour we could be out of range
Past the border and finally safe
In one hour family would escape
From the grasp of the evil them

They, border guards, are following us
Panting, angry, with rifles ready
Their job is to kill all who'd leave "paradise"
Of the Socialist Commonwealth

Kids, old folks, they have gone ahead
Running, breathless, against the clock
The pursuers are gaining with every step
Wife and I stay to make them stop

Don't laugh, don't cry, we have no choice
Trust in luck, trust in steady aim
Though we know as well as you
Shotguns can't match a-ka-ems

Barking, shouts are getting closer
And in the moments we have left
I look at my wife and long for a hug
But her foxhole is too far away

We need to gain sixty minutes
A pipe dream for the circumstance
But other choices are not for us
So we train two beads on the path

Through the trees we see them approach
Hunting spirit warms their blood
The soldiers and dogs share a purpose
Guarding routes out of paradise

Fifty paces, forty, still closer
They can't see us but dogs can smell
Their nominal prey, we watch them
On the beads between double barrels

While kids still run for the border
We enter Valhalla together
Having won for the fleeing family
Five more minutes of safety

I wish I was elsewhere

Oleg Volk

I wish I was else-when
Than after the Patriot Act
In a lonely final stand

The night was like any other
My wife and son were in bed
When I awoke from slumber
And walked barefoot to the den

I didn't turn on any lights
Because the house was mine
I knew every turn and crevice
Could move like a cat in the dark

I wish I was elsewhere
I wish I was else-when
Than remembering the moments
After the door was rammed

I hear glass break upstairs
And then concussion grenades
Lit up the bedrooms above me
With roar fit to wake the dead

My wife and I had assumed
That intruders were just a gang
For we'd never done anything
To merit this pre-dawn raid

My wife and son tried to fight
The ninjas behind bright lights
But they were alone and stunned
I heard rattle of MP-fives

I wish I was elsewhere
I wish I was else-when
And not in my ruined home
With my family freshly dead

I thought to my self: "I am dreaming"
This gang just couldn't be Feds
But they acted just as one would expect
Shooting women and children dead

They hadn't found me yet
As I wasn't asleep in bed
My deer rifle was close by
What I wanted to say, it said

I retreated and so did they
Watching me from the outside
From the basement I still could tell
That they set my house on fire

In the choking smoke, I could just wait
Barefoot on cement basement floor
I wanted to take just one more of them
On my journey to the Beyond

I wish I was elsewhere
I wish I was else-when
Instead of this cold basement
At bay like a cornered rat

One more coal-scuttle helmet
Came up above barricade
And though my hands were shaky
I connected the one shot I made

The heat got beyond enduring
But the smoke, it got me first
And the house became a pyre
For me and two other corpses

The newspapers ran the story
That a three-person terrorist cell
Were taken down in pre-dawn hours
And that two brave policemen fell

I wish I was elsewhere
I wish I was else-when
Perhaps in the Sherwood Forest
With like-minded armed men

That's not a line in the sand. That's a range marker!

Location Where Col. Travis Drew a Line in the Sand

Oleg Volk

A line in the sand.

The enemy host approached
Beheld the line in the sand
Walked along it without crossing
Deciding what to do next

Dug into chilly foxholes
Defenders awaited onslaught
Their sights set to the distance
At which the enemy paused

As bugles signaled advance
A volley ripped into the ranks
And while the bodies were falling
Lead storm tore at them once again

Checked by effective fire
Invaders retreated in shame
Learning that line in the sand
Was also marker for range

Remember that, would-be tyrants
To boundaries pay some respect
For free men still have their rifles
And wages of evil is death

Surveillance Vid Shows 71-Year-Old Concealed Carry Holder Opening Fire on Would-Be Robbers

Samuel Williams could soon become a poster child for concealed carry. Or rather a poster senior citizen.

Williams is being hailed as a hero this week after he sprung into action on Friday to thwart an armed robbery at an internet cafe. Williams was present when two masked thugs walked into the Palms Internet Cafe in Marion County, Florida. One of the men was brandishing a gun while the other had a bat. They started ordering patrons around and one smashes a computer screen. That’s when Williams took action.

Federal Judge Orders NYFD To Hire Two Blacks And One Hispanic For Every Five New Hires

Nothing is more enraging than affirmative action.

(CNSNews.com) – A federal judge is ordering the New York City Fire Department to implement racial quotas to address grievances from minorities who failed entrance exams.

On July 5 in Brooklyn, Nicholas G. Garaufis, a Clinton-appointed judge for the Eastern District of New York, issued a ruling that requires two of every five newly hired fireman to be black and one of every five, Hispanic — until the department has fulfilled the court-ordered quota of 186 black and 107 Hispanic hires.

The ruling allows back pay — totaling an estimated $128.7 million — for minorities who failed written tests.

Top Ten Things Obama Has Not Released

As the Obama campaign and the media continue to press Mitt Romney to release more of his tax returns, and to suggest--without a shred of evidence--that he is a “felon,” it is worth noting how much critical information Barack Obama has withheld from view--both as a candidate in 2008, and during his term in office. Here is a Breitbart News top ten list of things that Obama has refused to release (a complete list would fill volumes):

10. State senate papers. In the 2008 primary, Obama criticized Hillary Clinton for not releasing papers from her eight years time as First Lady--but failed to produce any papers from his eight years in Springfield. “They could have been thrown out,” he said.

9. Academic transcripts. His supposed academic brilliance was a major selling point, but Obama (by his own admission) was a mediocre student. His GPA at Occidental was a B-plus at best, and his entering class at Columbia was weak. Can he prove his merit?

8. Book proposal. Obama’s literary agent claimed he was “born in Kenya”--for sixteen years. His original book proposal exists--biographer David Maraniss refers to it--and seems to have embellished other key details of his life. Yet it has never been released.

7. Medical records. In 2000, and again (briefly) in 2008, GOP presidential candidate Sen. John McCain released thousands of pages of his medical records. Obama, who had abused drugs and continued smoking, merely provided a one-page doctor’s note.

6. Small-dollar donors. In 2008, the McCain campaign released the names of donors who had contributed less than $200, though it was not required to do so. But the Obama campaign refused, amidst accusations it had accepted illegal foreign contributions.

5. The Khalidi tape. In 2003, Obama attended a party for his good friend, the radical Palestinian academic Rashid Khalidi. The event featured incendiary anti-Israel rhetoric. The LA Times broke the story, but has refused to release the tape--and so has Obama.

4. The real White House guest list. Touting its transparency, the Obama White House released its guest logs--but kept many visits secret, and moved meetings with lobbyists off-site. It also refused to confirm the identities of visitors like Bertha Lewis of ACORN.

3. Countless FOIA requests. The Obama administration has been described as “the worst” ever in complying with Freedom of Information Act requests for documents. It has also punished whistleblowers like David Walpin, who exposed cronyism in Americorps.

2. Health reform negotiations. Candidate Obama promised that health care reform negotiations would be televised on C-SPAN. Instead, there were back-room deals woth millions with lobbyists and legislators--the details of which are only beginning to emerge.

1. Fast and Furious documents. After months of stonewalling Congress, Attorney General Eric Holder asked President Obama to use executive privilege to conceal thousands of documents related to the deadly scandal--and Obama did just that.

In addition to the above, Obama and his campaign have lied about many facts about his past--his membership in the New Party; his extensive connections with ACORN; and his continued relationship with domestic terrorist Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright, among other examples. Obama’s own memoir is filled with fabrications. And now he is lying about his opponent’s honorable record in business. He--and the media--have no shame.
