20 Million Deer hunters, guardians of freedom?

Via WRSA

Aesop has left a couple of comments that have provoked me into further thought on the subject of 20 million deer hunters.  A lot of people who believe that 20 million deer hunters are a credible threat to tyranny seem to have the "Underpants Gnome" plan for success.

Step 1. 20 Million Deer Hunters!

Step 2. ?

Step 3. Victory!
What this conversation really boils down to is how you get from step one to step three.  Expecting 20 million people to self organize into anything is, in my opinion, expecting a miracle.

I think the disconnect is that you seem to keep looking at "20M hunters" and seeing 10,000 potential regiments, needing the requisite uniforms, rations, drill, and coordination into a unified command - which I'll grant we'd need in the Fulda Gap in 1983. In the Shenandoah Valley in 2013 not so much.
Actually I see 20 Million deer hunters and I start whittling away the ones that won't fight, can't fight, or are in the wrong geographic location to do anyone any good.  A deer hunter in rural Wyoming, New Mexico, or Alaska is in a position to maybe cause some trouble with a railroad or oil pipeline, but not really going to be all that effective at ending the siege of New York or Miami.  Successful insurgencies are population centric, and the bulk of our population is urban/sub-urban.

Whereas we'uns see them as 10M+ potential sniper teams, free to shoot or not, as and when they will, and show back up at work in the morning, indefinitely.

Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Pig Virus) Calls For Congressional Hearing On Links Between Global Warming And Hurricane Sandy….....

VERBATIM

A better idea for a congressional hearing would be to investigate how human and pig DNA was combined to form Henry Waxman.

Via The Hill:
The top Democrat on the House Energy and Commerce Committee is urging Republicans to hold a hearing in the lame-duck session on links between climate change and Hurricane Sandy.
Rep. Henry Waxman’s (D-Calif.) letter to the committee’s chairman, Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.), makes Waxman the latest of several Democrats to cite the massive storm when calling for tougher action to battle global warming.
Wednesday’s letter argues that regardless of what happens at the ballot box in November, “the election should be a time to return to fact-based policymaking.”
“Hurricane Sandy is exactly the type of extreme weather event that climate scientists have said will become more frequent and more severe if we fail to reduce our carbon pollution. That is why we are writing to request that you hold a hearing on the storm and its relation to climate change in the lame-duck session,” Waxman and Rep. Bobby Rush (D-Ill.), a top lieutenant on the committee, wrote.

Pew: Obama's Early Vote Average Collapses 26 Points over 2008

As the CorruptMedia hyperventilates over the juicery released by Quinnipiac today showing Obama winning all of America's 12,458  electoral votes and Queen for a Day, the one poll they've intentionally ignored is a bombshell from Gallup showing Romney winning early votes by seven points and Obama's early vote advantage collapsing 22 points over 2008.

The cover-up of this poll was so thorough that when the corrupt Politico did report on Gallup's seven-point early vote advantage for Romney, they did so under a headline that laughably read: "Neither has edge in early voting." That's not bias on Politico's part; it’s out-and-out lying. Well, now we have a second poll the media can ignore that further confirms Gallup's findings and also shows Romney up seven points with early voters -- this time from Pew:

Fox News Finds Benghazi Smoking Gun, Raises Serious Questions

Seasoned counterterrorism reporter Catherine Herridge, part of a Fox News team that has been dogging the story of the September 11 attack on the U.S. consulate in Libya that resulted in the death of four Americans, has revealed the existence of a cable sent to the Office of the Secretary of State weeks before. The cable concluded that the consulate could not withstand a “coordinated attack.” Further, the cable identified terrorist groups that were operating in the area. The existence of this document raises some serious questions.

1. Why was the cable kept secret for so long?

Individual Freedom or Collectivism – Your Choice

Socialism

Unless you are Rip Van Winkle and just woke up from a 20 year nap, you are probably aware that Tuesday, November 6, is Election Day.

We have come to that fork in the road Yogi Berra talked about . . . and this time, the road we choose will determine the future of our nation for decades . . . maybe forever.

Two critical issues are at stake.   The first is Individual Freedom.   True Individual Freedom is under attack by forces far more powerful and resourceful than ever before.

As American citizens, most of  us believe we are still free, protected by the United States Constitution and Bill of Rights . . . Nothing could be further from the truth.

Compared to what was originally guaranteed us when the Constitution was written, all we have left are a few scraps of Liberty not yet stolen by those who seek control over every aspect of our lives.

Loss of Liberty has happened slowly, over many years . . . . most of us have barely noticed as it was far easier to ignore a painful truth than to confront it.  Many of our fellow citizens are either uninformed, disinterested, or deceived by the false promises of a collectivist future.

About 150 years ago, Karl Marx wrote the Communist Manifesto – a plan for the world’s self-appointed elite to control and enslave all humanity.

Key planks of Marx’s Communist Manifesto include:

A PICTURE SAYS A THOUSAND WORDS — Hình Dung Lịch Sử và Tình Người

I guess we'll always be unappreciated for what we did in "Nam. I worked with three Catholic orphanages during my off-duty hours,as well,as some of my friends did humanitarian things to help out the Vietnamese people.

None of these photos won a Pulitzer Prize.  Reason: they wouldn't "sell."  To paraphrase a familiar term: "Pulitzers are in the eye of the beholder."  The "beholders" weren't interested in any of this because they didn't fuel their righteous indignation, didn't fit in with their desired preconceptions.

Text in Viet Namese from stateside Viet Namese publication, but photos need no explanation.

Sender of these photos went on nearly 100 MEDCAPs during three years in-country.  Helped a lot of people.   Saved an old woman's scalded foot.  Saved a young girl's face from insidious fungus infection.  Saved a little kid's life when he was burning up from runaway fever.   Not once, ever, did a "media puke" come along or express any interest in doing so.

The Preferred Role of Guns in the Political Process

VERBATIM

Recently, I wrote of the limited utility of sharpshooters in standing battles. I also write often about the importance of marksmanship and gun ownership. How do these two statements fit together?

Where most of the population is unarmed and untrained, a relatively small junta can make considerable progress by not playing by the rules. That approach doesn’t work as well if every segment of the population is capable to self-defense. Of course, it is possible for one group to overmatch another, but the amount of logistical organization and preparation necessary for such a feat would also enable them to win elections…at which point victory by force becomes unnecessary. In effect, elections can be viewed as non-violent proxies for civil wars. The same is true of personal safety: in some countries, dissidents and merely insufficiently enthusiastic supporters of the ruling party could be rounded up at little cost to the government. In the US, every individual may be presumed armed and unpredictable, increasing the required manpower and decreasing the ability to arrest political opponents without repercussions.

So guns and other weapons in private hands keep certain political optimists from trying their luck at establishing the Second Caliphate or building Worker’s Paradise or Restoring the Republic. They end up trying to make it happen by means other than bloody mayhem. I’d rather have a PR battle and put up with annoying campaigns than have DFL and GOP (and possible other contenders) slug it out Beirut 1982 style. The Lebanese civil war, by the way, was sparked by outside influences that gave some factions the illusion of “short victorious war” being possible. The American civilian arms basically make violent political shortcuts backfire on those who try. That is why marksmanship and access to arms are important.

Early Voting Machine in Ohio Switching Romney Vote to Obama

Well, this isn't a good sign. At least one early voting machine in Ohio, the state that could make or break the election, is switching Romney votes to Obama votes on the screen.
Joan Stevens was one of several early voters at the polls on Monday. But when Stevens tried to cast her ballot for president, she noticed a problem.

Upon selecting “Mitt Romney” on the electronic touch screen, Barack Obama’s name lit up.

It took Stevens three tries before her selection was accurately recorded.

“You want to vote for who you want to vote for, and when you can’t it’s irritating,” Stevens said.

Stevens said she alerted Jackie Smith, a board of elections member who was present. Smith declined to comment, but Stevens says she mentioned that the machine had been having problems all day.

The mysterious media Benghazi bugout

Via Don

Where is the Benghazi media feeding frenzy?

I don’t think there’s a conspiracy at work. Rather, I think journalists tend to act on their instincts. And, collectively, the mainstream media’s instincts run liberal.

In 2000, a Democratic operative orchestrated an “October surprise” attack on George W. Bush, revealing that 24 years earlier, he’d been arrested for drunken driving. The media went into a feeding frenzy.

“Is all the 24-hour coverage of Bush’s 24-year-old DUI arrest the product of a liberal media almost drunk on the idea of sinking him, or is it a legitimate, indeed unavoidable news story?” asked Howard Kurtz on his CNN show “Reliable Sources.” The consensus among the guests: It wasn’t a legitimate news story. But the media kept going with it.

One could go on and on. In September 2004, former CBS titan Dan Rather gambled his entire career on a story about Bush’s service in the National Guard. His instincts were so powerful, he didn’t thoroughly check the documents he relied on, which were forgeries.

Oh, there have been conservative feeding frenzies: about Barack Obama’s pastor, John Kerry’s embellishments of his war record, etc. But the mainstream media usually tasks itself with debunking and dispelling such “hysteria.”

Last week, Fox News correspondent Jennifer Griffin reported that sources on the ground in Libya say they pleaded for support during the attack on the Benghazi consulate that led to the deaths of four Americans. They were allegedly told twice to “stand down.” Worse, there are suggestions that significant military resources were available to counterattack, but requests for help were denied.

If true, the White House’s concerted effort to blame the attack on a video crumbles, as do several other fraudulent claims. Yet, last Friday, the president boasted, “The minute I found out what was happening” in Benghazi, he ordered that everything possible be done to protect our personnel. That’s either untrue, or he’s being disobeyed on grave matters.

Yet Fox News is alone in treating the story like it’s a big deal. During the less significant Valerie Plame scandal, reporters camped out on the front lawns of Karl Rove and other Bush White House staff. Did Obama confiscate those journalists’ sleeping bags?

Beck to Media outlets, we know you have the damning messages, release them immediately or we will expose you.

During his Wednesday evening broadcast, Glenn Beck revealed that he and his network, TheBlaze, are absolutely certain based on “very well-sourced information” that two media outlets — one a network — do indeed have emails proving the Obama White House gave orders to “stand down” during the terror attack in Benghazi.

Beck said it is incumbent upon those media outlets to release the information and provide Americans with the truth, rather than shield the president. If they refrain from doing so, Beck said he will “expose them.”

Later on in the segment, Beck also broached Facebook’s censoring of the Special Operations Speaks (SOS) PAC. Facebook ordered the group to take down an anti-Obama meme about Benghazi and when they didn’t comply, the account was suspended for 24 hours.
