Wonder if the Hanoi Hilton would take him back?

Sen. John McCain says if it in 2016 came down to Sen. Rand Paul or Hillary Clinton for president, he might have a hard time making up his mind.

Asked about the possibility in a new, lengthy interview with The New Republic, McCain (R-Ariz.) quipped: “It’s gonna be a tough choice [laughs].”

Inca mummies: Child sacrifice victims fed drugs and alcohol

Tests on three mummies found in Argentina have shed new light on the Inca practice of child sacrifice.

Scientists have revealed that drugs and alcohol played a key part in the months and weeks leading up to the children's deaths.

Tests on one of the children, a teenage girl, suggest that she was heavily sedated just before her demise.

The study is published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Dr Emma Brown, from the department of archaeological sciences at the University of Bradford, said:

"The Spanish chroniclers suggest that children were sacrificed for all kinds of reasons: important life milestones in the lives of the Incas, in times of war or natural disasters, but there was a calendar of rituals too."

'In this bivouac of the dead’

A quiet secluded valley surrounded by towering trees and gentle slopes cradles the remains of about 400 Confederate soldiers who lost their lives in the bloody two-day Battle of Resaca, May 14-15, 1864.

That the Civil War-era cemetery exists at all can be credited to two sisters whose home lay within the battle zone.

According to the Bicentennial History of Gordon County, Col. John F. Green was forced by the battle to take his family and flee. When they returned, members were stricken by the sight that greeted them — the Federals had collected and properly interred their dead, but the fleeing Confederates had not had time to properly bury their own.

Around the house on all sides were scattered graves of soldiers who had been buried where they fell. Low mounds and shallow depressions dotted the battle-scathed land for hundreds of yards. Some of the bodies were exposed; others only hastily covered with dirt.

Col. Green’s daughters, Mary and Pyatt, with the help of their black cook and black maid, dug graves with their own hands and began burying the fallen soldiers in their flower garden. This was the beginning of the Resaca Confederate Cemetery, the oldest Confederate military burial ground in Georgia and one of the two oldest in the South.

Black Self-Sabotage

If we put ourselves into the shoes of racists who seek to sabotage black upward mobility, we couldn't develop a more effective agenda than that followed by civil rights organizations, black politicians, academics, liberals and the news media. Let's look at it.

First, weaken the black family, but don't blame it on individual choices. You have to preach that today's weak black family is a legacy of slavery, Jim Crow and racism. The truth is that black female-headed households were just 18 percent of households in 1950, as opposed to about 68 percent today.

In fact, from 1890 to 1940, the black marriage rate was slightly higher than that of whites. Even during slavery, when marriage was forbidden for blacks, most black children lived in biological two-parent families. In New York City, in 1925, 85 percent of black households were two-parent households. A study of 1880 family structure in Philadelphia shows that three-quarters of black families were two-parent households.

Buchanan rips Obama for new tactic in IRS scandal: ‘He is sinking in the polls and it’s getting to him’

On Monday’s “On the Record” on the Fox News Channel, host Greta Van Susteren had representatives from both the Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute and Leadership Institute to talk about the IRS scrutiny they faced around the same time in 2011, which is now the center of an investigation by California Rep. Darrell Issa and his House oversight committee.

After their appearance on “On the Record,” Pat Buchanan, author of “Suicide of a Superpower: Will America Survive to 2025?” reacted to their remarks by saying the timing of the audits of both those organizations was no coincidence.

“This is no accident,” Buchanan said. “This is clearly some kind of policy directive and I think it’s going forward as a consequence of basically the vendetta that’s been conducted against the tea party starting back in 2010 where you would have thought listening to television that we’re dealing with people trying to pull off a Beer Hall Putsch. Let me mention now that this idea of a ‘phony scandal’ — It’s not a phony scandal and the president knows it. His numbers are going down. The respect for the IRS is going down. People are following this story. It’s continuing along. But they’re not getting much help from the mainstream media because it doesn’t fit the script.”
