An Amazing Tarheel: “None had more deeply at heart than he the cause for which he shed his blood”
This is James Johnston Pettigrew’s only book, privately printed in Charleston in the first weeks of the War between the States and here for the first time published. In the opening passage the author describes himself crossing the Alps on his way to seek service in the army of the king of Sardinia.
His mission was to take part in a struggle for liberty, the liberation of Italy from the yoke of Austria.
That was 1859. By pure chance it was the Fourth of July, not only the birthday of American independence but also, as it happened, Pettigrew’s own birthday, his thirty-first. Exactly four years later (the Fourth of July 1863), he was beside the Emmitsburg road near a Pennsylvania town called Gettysburg, nursing a useless right arm which had been smashed by grapeshot and waiting for an enemy counter-attack that never came.
All about him were the survivors of the North Carolina soldiers that the day before he had led through a mile of frontal and flank fire to within a few yards of the now eternally famous stone wall on Cemetery Ridge. Pettigrew was, by his own lights, engaged in another struggle for liberty, that of his own people from a Union that had grown hateful. Two weeks later, he was dead of a wound received in a minor skirmish as the rearguard of the Army of Northern Virginia recrossed the Potomac back to the Confederacy.
In 1859 Pettigrew had caught up with the allied Sardinian and French forces in northern Italy just a few days after the decisive battle of Solferino.

Rapefugees Not Welcome
Via David
Thousands of Germans turned out this week at the weekly Pegida protest against the Islamic invasion of Europe.
This was the first major protest since the New Year’s Eve sex attacks by hundreds of migrants.
Information continues to emerge on the war zone
that erupted in Cologne, Germany on New Year’s Eve, when thousands of
imports from Islamic lands threw bottles and fireworks into crowds and
at the police, as well as molested, raped, attacked, robbed, knifed,
spat, defecated, urinated, vomited, ranted, and raved as they turned an
area of a beautiful city into a site of utter barbarism. (Other cities
in Germany experienced similar violence on New Year’s Eve, which is only
now beginning to be reported.)
One victim had a firecracker shoved into the hood of her jacket. When she tried to get it out, it fell into her jacket, causing serious burns across her shoulder.

US becoming safer compared to Europe in both fatalities and frequency of Mass Public Shootings: US Now ranks 11th in fatalities and 12th in frequency
Via David
“But we are the only advanced country on Earth that sees this kind of mass violence erupt with this kind of frequency. It doesn’t happen in other advanced countries. It’s not even close. And as I’ve said before, somehow we’ve become numb to it and we start thinking that this is normal.” –President Obama, announcing his new executive orders on guns, January 7, 2016
This claim is simply not true. Between January 2009 and December 2015, there are 11 European countries with a higher frequency of these mass public shootings than the US, and 10 European countries with a higher rate of deaths from these attacks.

Mr.Jaeger, if you actually believe that, then you're so full of shit you should be listed as a hazmat site.
Further bullshit:
Print it off, should make a good range target.

I’m an Oregon rancher. Here’s what you don’t understand about the Bundy standoff.
Via David
I grew up in a ranching community in northeast Oregon. Even as a kid, I knew I wanted to be a rancher. After eight years as a firefighter, I’d saved enough to start my own business. I wanted to work on the land, raising delicious, wholesome beef for our growing population.
For almost a decade, I’ve done just that. Most days, I’m up before the sun rises. I spend my mornings tending to my horses, dogs and livestock. In the winter, when it’s bitter cold, I’m outside with my cattle, making sure their water isn’t frozen and that they’re properly fed. In the summer, I often work 15-hour days, cultivating my crops and tending to the animals. In the afternoons, I’m in my office, reaching out to customers and handling the ranch’s business side. Over the course of a given day, I act as a vet, a mechanic, an agronomist and accountant.
I love the work, but it’s grueling.

The Obama administration has pushed our livelihood to the brink.
This week, the Ammon Bundy-led seizure of a federal wildlife refuge thrust Oregon’s ranchers into the spotlight. While I don’t agree with the occupiers’ tactics, I sympathize with their position. Being a rancher was always challenging. And it has become increasingly difficult under the Obama administration.I grew up in a ranching community in northeast Oregon. How Corrupt Is the American Government? Get a beer as it'll take awhile
Via Cousin John
Government corruption has become rampant:

Government corruption has become rampant:
- Senior SEC employees spent up to 8 hours a day surfing porn sites instead of cracking down on financial crimes
- Nuclear Regulatory Commission workers watch porn instead of cracking down on unsafe conditions at nuclear plants
- An EPA employee who downloaded 7,000 porn files, then spent 2-6 hours each workday watching porn. He’s been doing it for years … but the EPA never fired him. Another EPA employee harassed 16 women co-workers … and then was promoted to a higher-paying job with more responsibility, where he harassed more women
- NSA spies pass around homemade sexual videos and pictures they’ve collected from spying on the American people
- NSA employees have also been caught using their mass surveillance powers to spy on love interests, such as girlfriends, obsessions or former wives … and to eavesdrop on American soldiers’ intimate conversations with their wives back home. And see this (“routinely shared salacious or tantalizing phone calls that had been intercepted” … “‘Hey, check this out … there’s good phone sex’”)

HR 569: CAIR’s Standard Operating Procedure
Via Terry
Once again, this will not pass. However, the fact that 82 Democrats have co-sponsored it will be used to validate the Muslim Brotherhood (CAIR, ISNA, MPAC, etc. etc.) claim that hate crimes have increased (and of course they haven’t for Muslims, although they may have increased against Jews in America, who are historically identified in FBI statistics as victimized in hate crimes five to ten times more frequently than Muslims in America).
Dated
Your American readers who aren’t aware of HR569 probably should be, and
your European and Canadian readers may be interested to learn just how
successful the Muslim Brotherhood has been in its penetration of the
U.S. government, and how close we are to seeing the full implementation
of U.N. Resolution 16/18 in this country.

Supporting Liberty Forces in Burns
A III Patriot in Oregon, the first Son of Liberty member of the III Percent Society, and his Second-in-Command, decided to support Bundy & Company at the Malheur Refuge yesterday, Friday 1/8.
Once the decision had been taken, plans were put together and then executed.
Our Patriot represented himself, his allies, and the III Society splendidly.
As his Team executed events on the ground, we handled the admin side with several Patriots to ensure our Team was met with a warm welcome. My thanks to those of you I have spoken with online and otherwise to ensure our assistance made it to the right people.
