It was utter chaos at Portland State University Thursday evening, as over 100 wackjob commie students crashed the forming meeting for Students For Trump. Fights nearly broke out, doxing and vandalism threats were issued to Trump supporters, Latino students were shoving the Trump students out of the way, another student encourages others to join anti capitalist groups, they shut down and silenced the pro Trump group, mocking their talking points, whined about TRUMP chalk on the sidewalk, and it ends with the socialist students gloating about shutting it down and promising to come back if Students For Trump holds another meeting.

The torrid pace of Muslim migration into the United States should be sending off alarm bells in the nation’s Jewish community, but so far it has barely registered as the sound of a pin dropping.

The U.S. issued approximately 680,000 green cards to migrants from 49 Muslim-majority nations, as identified by Pew Research Center, in the five-year period from fiscal years 2009-2013, a figure that should be a red flag to American Jews.

There are only 5.5 million Jews living in America. The Muslim demographic is estimated at about 3 million but is growing much faster due to immigration and the high fertility rates of Muslim women.

Can the GOP Get Together in Cleveland?

 

After winning only six delegates in Wisconsin, and with Ted Cruz poaching delegates in states he has won, like Louisiana, Donald Trump either wins on the first ballot at Cleveland, or Trump does not win.

Yet, as that huge, roaring reception he received in his first post-Wisconsin appearance in Bethpage, N.Y., testifies, the Donald remains not only the front-runner, but the most exciting figure in the race.

Moreover, after the New York, New England, mid-Atlantic and California primaries, Trump should be within striking distance of the 1,237 delegates needed for the nomination.

The Panama papers revealed only one of the vast networks used by criminals, corrupt politicians and tax evaders to hide wealth from scrutiny. There are many, many more.  

My friend, Tom Barnett, at his new digs on resilient.com explains why this leak is important:

There's nothing new in tax evasion through parking one's financial assets "offshore." That's been around for a very long time. Instead, what's truly stunning here is the routinization and systematizing of these nefarious practices. It reminds me of the leap from a pogrom to the Holocaust: a massacre you can attempt to blame on particular circumstances, timing, leaders, etc., but a genuine effort at genocide is something operating on an entirely different level. The former, because it's short-lived, can be sustained by emotion, but the latter, because it takes years of consistent effort, requires something far worse - a truly deformed sense of morality.

I concur.

This is the same reason I found the financial crisis of 2007-2016 so troubling (others found it troubling too since it launched both the Tea party and Occupy):  

This financial crisis demonstrated, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the entire US system from Wall Street to Washington is an elaborate fraud. 

A morally bankrupt system we can't (read: won't) dismantle because it has become routine and accepted. 

A system that is actively destroying the socioeconomic fabric of the US and strangling our future.  

A truly deformed sense of morality that has become disturbingly pervasive.

What If the Supreme Court Were Liberal?

Second Amendment. Until 2008, not once did the Supreme Court find a law to violate the Second Amendment. Then, in District of Columbia v. Heller, the Court, by a 5-4 margin, declared unconstitutional a 35-year-old District of Columbia ordinance that prohibited private ownership or possession of handguns. Scalia wrote the opinion for the Court. A Supreme Court bench with five Democratic appointees will not extend this protection for gun rights and likely would overrule it, returning to the view that the Second Amendment protects only a right to have guns for the purpose of militia service.

What might it mean to have five justices on the Supreme Court who were appointed by Democratic presidents? Since 1970, the year Harry Blackmun received Senate confirmation, there always have been at least five justices appointed by a Republican president on the Court. If Merrick Garland is confirmed to replace Antonin Scalia, he will join Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor, and Elena Kagan as Democratic appointees to the high Court.

Gun permits have surged more than 90 percent in Cumberland County since 2014, with so many applications that the Sheriff's Office struggles to keep up.

The number of permit applications rose from 9,339 in 2014 to more than 17,888 last year, including permits to purchase pistols or concealed carry permits, according to Sheriff's Office lawyer Ronnie Mitchell.

Sheriff Moose Butler asked county commissioners on Thursday for funding for an additional employee to handle firearms permits, because his office doesn't have enough people to get fingerprints from applicants.

"We're asking for help," he said. "This is a needed position over there."
