Sweet Home Alabama

Forty years ago today, Lynyrd Skynyrd released their second album titled Second Helping. The effort contained what has become the quintessential Southern rock anthem, Sweet Home Alabama.

Skynyrd, along with Georgia’s The Allman Brothers Band, Tennessee’s Charlie Daniels Band, and South Carolina’s Marshall Tucker Band, were part of a Southern music revival in the 1970s. Being Southern was chic. Everyone wanted to say “ya’ll” and cowboy hats, boots, and blue jeans were a fad. Even the Confederate Flag was cool (see the video below shot in Oakland, CA in 1977). The South had risen again, at least for a time, and the region experienced a revival after being beaten down and demonized by the media during the Civil Rights era.

President Obama's former deputy national security adviser indicated Saturday that he isn't very happy with President Trump's decision to hit a Syrian air base with missiles.

Trump's missile strike, which was retaliation for Syria's use of chemical weapons, drew instant comparisons to Obama, who warned the U.S. would act if Syria used chemical weapons.

Obama did nothing after Syria crossed that "red line" of Obama's, and many said Trump was the one to finally enforce Obama's ultimatum years later.

WikiLeaks’ latest document dump exposed the Obama administration’s deliberate desertion of Americans in Benghazi.

In an email from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to Obama lackey and counselor John Podesta, Clinton admitted that she and the president issued a stand down order to America troops stationed 3 miles from the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi.

It seems Obama and Clinton didn’t want to upset radicalized Muslims in the small Libyan town by sending troops to protect Americans. Instead, Hillary went to bed while radical Islamic extremists attacked and killed Americans in Benghazi on September 11, 2012.

This nanny-state liberalism shows more concern for angry infantile people than holding them accountable for their criminal behavior. And it is treasonous.

The Clinton email in question explained to Podesta that a handful of lives were a small price to pay to maintain U.S. weapons deals with the Lebanese that flowed through Kurdistan and Caledonia:

Russia decries cancelled Boris Johnson visit and warns on further Syria attacks

Russian officials have launched a scathing attack on the UK before a gathering of G7 foreign ministers on Monday, criticising Boris Johnson’s decision to cancel a trip to Moscow due to increased tensions about Syria.

The foreign secretary faced criticism at home and abroad on Sunday for postponing the visit, prompting his allies to say critics had put “polls and politics above sorting out a civil war”.

In a further escalation of the rhetoric regarding last week’s US missile strikes on Syria, a joint command centre made up of the forces of Russia, Iran and militias supporting the Syrian president, Bashar al-Assad, said the attack had crossed “red lines” and it would respond to any new aggression and increase its support for its ally.

“What America waged in an aggression on Syria is a crossing of red lines. From now on we will respond with force to any aggressor or any breach of red lines from whoever it is and America knows our ability to respond well,” said the statement published by the group on the media outlet Ilam al Harbi (War Media).

Sen. Rand Paul Continues To Question The Trump Administration’s Action In Syria

Sen. Rand Paul spoke with Judge Jeannine Pirro Saturday night and continued to criticize President Trump’s decision to strike a Syrian airfield. He maintains that the strike was not constitutional and will only lead to more destruction.

“We just spent a lengthy week approving Justice Gorsuch, and what many conservatives like about him is that he adheres to the law,” Paul told Pirro. “He’s an originalist. I’m the same way as a legislator. I think we should look to our Founding Fathers and to the opening debates of our country.

They said that the power to declare war or to initiate war resided in the legislature. Specifically, the did not give it to the executive. It was a big debate, and they were explicit: War would be declared by Congress. So, when we go to war, that’s the way it should be.”

New Iranian Threat: Could use its missiles to destroy 36 different U.S. military bases.

A senior Iranian cleric’s observation this week that Iranian missiles could hit Tel Aviv in seven minutes made international headlines and was a useful reminder of just how aggressive and destabilizing the Islamic Republic can be.

A look at the Persian language reporting of the speech, however, reveals something even more ominous. What Hojjat al-Islam Mojtaba Zonour, a former advisor to the Supreme Leader’s representative to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, actually threatened was that Iran could use its missiles to destroy 36 different U.S. military bases. He singled out the U.S. Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain specifically, and said Iran could flatten it.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Sunday said the Trump administration's top priority in respect to Syria is decimating the Islamic State before deciding how to dismantle Bashar Assad's regime.

"We believe that the first priority is the defeat of ISIS. That by defeating ISIS and removing their caliphate from their control, we've now eliminated at least - or minimized a particular threat not just to the United States, but to the whole stability in the region," Tillerson told CBS "Face the Nation" host John Dickerson.

Iran and Russia have threatened to hit back if the US follows up on its air strike in Syria last week, ramping up tensions in the Middle East.

It comes after Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson cancelled a trip to Moscow and prepared a new diplomatic offensive against Russia.
