Old Saigon Building of the Week: Phương Nam Mansion Sells for 35 Million

After being sold at the astronomical price of US$35 million, it’s beginning to look like one of the city's most exquisite works of colonial architecture has been saved for future generations.

Located on a 2,800-square-meter site at 110-112 Võ Văn Tần in District 3, with entrances on Võ Văn Tần, Bà Huyện Thanh Quan and Nguyễn Thị Diệu Streets, the Phương Nam Mansion is one of the largest colonial residences in the city.

What the Newspapers Said: The Black Confederate “Myth” Examined

Where did the belief in the “black Confederate soldier” originate? Did it begin in 1977, after the success of the television mini-series Roots caused people to reevaluate race and slavery during the Civil War? Were stories of these men absent before then, as one of many historians who tackles this topic claims? Is it accurate or indeed fair to describe these men as a “myth” either as individuals or collectively? Is attempting to highlight the service of these men some nefarious plot to downplay slavery as a cause of the Civil War? Certainly the history of black supporters of the Confederate States can be and has been abused or mischaracterized by some on both sides of this issue, but it is wrong to label this history as a “myth”, implying by the use of the word that black supporters of the Confederacy never existed, and that belief in their existence is embracing a known falsehood.

The best half hour of TV in a decade occurred last night on Laura Ingraham’s “The Ingraham Angle”.  Guests former mayor of New York and President Trump’s attorney, Rudy Giuliani, and former US Attorney Joe diGenova tore into the Democrat’s phony impeachment and then went to the heart of all the corruption in D.C. and they were brilliant.

This is a Coup

Via Wes

This is a coup. This is the most shocking violation of the Constitution and criminal activity in the history, not just of America, but of a western government. Much of this rises to the level of treason.

People need to understand how shocking this is. This is a clear conspiracy. Will there be arrests and indictments, who know’s? This is a coup. This is people embedded in the government attempting to take over and go against the will of the voter. It is a criminal activity. These people need to be indicted, charged, and need to be hanged in public, and if they’re not, then our Constitution is nothing more than a sham. Regardless of your feelings for Trump, this is a coup against a duly elected President, and people need to understand how serious this is.

A top psychology group representing 24,000 psychologists in Australia claims children should neither have to get parental consent nor undergo mandatory counseling to undergo irreversible gender-transition surgeries.

The Australian Psychological Society (APS), according to a report from The Australian, “says the disapproval of both parents should not inhibit a child under 16 from consenting to procedures,” The Daily Mail reported last week.
