Revolutionary South
Colonial and Revolutionary Southern history does not have a
strong presence in film, unless one counts the documentaries and
pseudo-documentaries that make the Revolution a New England achievement and
have George Washington and Thomas Jefferson talking like they came from Ohio. The
celebrated television dramas about John Adams give him an anti-slavery opinion
which he did not have at that time
or
ever, and portray Southerners as mincing fops or honourary Yankees like
George Washington in
