Columbia SC, Sam Davis Youth Camp......

......since we are here this week, I thought it appropriate to include this SC article on the NC site.

"It has pleased God......in that Providence which is so inscrutable to man, to visit our beautiful city with the most cruel fate which can ever befall States or cities. He has permitted an invading army to penetrate our country almost without impediment; to rob and ravage our dwellings, and to commit three-fifths of our city to the flames. . . . The schools of learning, the shops of art and trade, of invention and manufacture; shrines equally of religion, benevolence and industry; are all buried together, in one congregated ruin. Humiliation spreads her ashes over our homes and garments, and the universal wreck exhibits only one common aspect of despair. It is for us, as succinctly but as fully as possible, and in the simplest language, to endeavor to make the melancholy record of our wretchedness as complete as possible." The Eighth Toast: To The Confederate Dead Of The University

No eulogy that I could pronounce would increase our respect for the memory of those who died in defence of the "Lost Cause."

No language at my command will excite us to a greater degree of appreciation of the character of the dutiful soldier. No words known to me can have the effect of kindling in our hearts a more ardent love for those whose response to authoritative call for service was so cheerfully and patriotically given.

Two Declare For Libertarian Party Presidential Nomination

"......he was criticized in ’08 by the PC thought police for wearing a Confederate flag themed tie (to the PC Gestapo this was of course code that he secretly wants to re-enslave black people despite all his libertarian rhetoric), and he still has it on in his official picture. Anyone who stands up to the PC Gestapo deserves respect." Read more HERE.

Lord Action On Final Reckoning With Government

During the American Civil War, (Sic) his sympathies lay entirely with the Confederacy, for their defense of States' Rights against a centralized government that, by all historical precedent, would inevitably turn tyrannical. His notes to Gladstone on the subject helped sway many in the British government to sympathize with the South. After the South's surrender, he wrote to Robert E. Lee that "I mourn for the stake which was lost at Richmond more deeply than I rejoice over that which was saved at Waterloo." . . Read the rest HERE.

Frederick Douglass' Hands: The Blood Of A Million Americans

"Frederick Douglass was no stranger to hate: he was one of those who encouraged the hate-enraged John Brown toward Harpers Ferry in 1859, afterward hiding in Canada to avoid extradition to Virginia for punishment." Read the rest HERE.

Have Your NC Tintype Made

(Kindness of Cousin John. BT)

--------

Photography at Aycock Birthplace

Mr. Fields and Mr. Williams,

We will have a photographer from Wilmington that coming to the Aycock Birthplace on July 21 in the afternoon and the evening. This photographer does tintypes similar to the Civil War era ones. He was at Fort Anderson back in February and wants to come down and take pictures of the area. He is also willing to take pictures of people at the Birthplace. His stuff is pretty good. This is his blog site if you are interested:

Open it HERE.

He was at Ft Fisher on June 10 and he has posted some pictures of that and also of Ft. Anderson in Feb. To tell you the truth some of those pictures are hard to tell whether or not the pictures are modern or Civil War. His prices are for a ¼ plate is $40 and ½ plate is $50. A plate is 6 ½ X 8 1/8.

I hope that you might spread word the members of the Dr. Person SCV Camp and see if any are interested in having a good tintype made in their uniform or in present day clothing or even y'all might be interested in a group shot., they are more than welcome to come by the site and I know that the photographer would have no problem with paying customers.

Let The Pittsboro Confederate Soldier Statue Stand!

Let the confederate soldier statue stand in front of the Chatham courthouse

Ron Paul On Lincoln & More

"Most people consider Abe Lincoln to be one of our greatest presidents, if not the greatest president we’ve ever had. Would you agree with that sentiment and why or why not?

"No, I don’t think he was one of our greatest presidents." Read the rest HERE.
