NC: School Official Demands “Home School License”

VERBATIM

When a family in Lenoir (Caldwell County) decided to withdraw their son from public school last month in order to teach him at home, an official at the middle school refused to remove him from the public school rolls until the mother first produced a “home school license.” This meant that the child would be considered truant by the public school while being taught in a homeschool setting.

After the parents contacted Home School Legal Defense Association for assistance, Senior Counsel Dewitt Black wrote the school official and advised her that the family was in full compliance with state law, having filed a notice of intent to operate a homeschool with the North Carolina Division of Non-Public Education. Black also informed the school official that there was no such thing as a “home school license” and, further, that there was no requirement under state law that parents operating a homeschool provide the school district with any documentation relating to its operation. Finally, Black’s letter stated that since the parents had already made a good faith effort to follow the school’s normal withdrawal procedure, they were under no obligation to take any other action in this regard.

This is an example of how threatening legal problems can arise even in a state with a good homeschool law.

2nd Amendment

Wow is this good.:)

VERBATIM

"When the second amendment was written, no one had even dreamed of the modern guns we have today. The second applies to muskets, as those were what America had when the amendment was written. It wouldn't have been an amendment if the founding fathers had imagined machine guns killing our children and other high technology weapons."

Thanks for your email. But you don't have the right to speak your opinion. You do not have freedom of speech. "What about the first amendment" you may blurt out? Sorry. The founding fathers didn't imagine email, blogs, the internet, TV, radio or any other "high technology" ways that you may wish to express yourself. God-given human rights only applied to the technology level of the 18th century, right?

Keep your putrid stupidity off the internet, please, and do us all a favor and GTFO of this country.

Saudi Offers “Castrated African Slave” for Sale on Facebook

VERBATIM
Who says that the Muslim world isn’t modern? Sure they could hold old-fashioned auctions for African slaves. But instead they’re leveraging the power of social media for their slave auctions.
Peace be upon you …
I have a [male] slave I bought from an African country and arranged for his visa and stay till I got him to Saudi [Arabia]
His description:
1 – Black skin. Tall 172 sm. Weight 60 kilos.
2 – Castrated (excellent for working with a family) you can check him with a doctor our yourself if you have experience in the matter.
3 – [His] health is quite undamaged and has no imperfections.
4 – Age 26 years.
5 – Religion muslim and [he is] obedient and will not disobey you except in what displeases God. Please, the matter is very serious and is not a joke.
No it’s not a joke. Saudi Arabia had an estimated 300,000 slaves in 1960. Slavery was then officially abolished, but unofficially continues to exist.

Saudis who travel outside their country sometimes bring their slaves with them, leading to run-ins with the law. One of the ugliest such incidents was the murder of a slave by a Saudi prince in London.
The court had heard that the murder of Abdulaziz was the final act in a “deeply abusive” master-servant relationship in which the prince carried out frequent attacks on his aide “for his own personal gratification”.
Jurors were told that by the early hours of 15 February, Abdulaziz was so worn down and injured – having suffered a “cauliflower” ear and swollen eye from previous assaults – that he let Saud kill him without a fight.
Saud tried to cover up the true nature of his relationship with his servant, claiming they were “friends and equals”, but a porter at the Marylebone hotel where they had stayed said Abdulaziz was treated “like a slave”.
If progressives really cared about racism and sexism, they would take a hard look at the Muslim world. But of course, they don’t.

Business Should Be Able to Hire and Fire Whomever They Want and for Whatever Reason They Want

VERBATIM

Black, white, gay, straight, Christian, Atheist, male, female, it doesn’t matter; if a private business wants to discriminate against any one or combination of these types, who cares? Who cares? If a private-business owner doesn’t want to hire any female Christians, he should have the right to not hire them for that reason (and I say that as a Christian). If a private-business owner finds out an employee is a gay Atheist, he should have the right to fire him for that reason (assuming he doesn’t like gays or Atheists).

The free market would sort things out. It would be a bad idea to fire someone for his race or sexual preference, etc., because the news will get out that such-and-such business hates [race] and hates [sexual preference], and within a short while, he will notice a shortage of customers. Eventually the business will go belly-up. But if he wants to risk going bankrupt for his discrimination, let him take that risk, and you can take your business elsewhere.

It doesn’t pay to discriminate. It does pay to hire the best for the job, regardless of that person’s personal life and views. If a business has the choice to hire an incompetent white guy or a very competent black lady, you can bet your butt that that business will hire the black lady–unless he doesn’t care about his business. If he doesn’t care about his business, the business will go under soon enough anyway, so just let him, and let’s all relax.

Discrimination in the workplace should be legal, period.

“Oh, I know why you want businesses to discriminate. It’s because if you started a business, you’d refuse to hire anybody who isn’t a white devil!”

No. But here is a list of people I would refuse to hire:
  • Anybody with dreadlocks, piercings, visible tattoos
  •  Practicing Muslims (if they’re “Muslim” the way most of today’s “Jews” are Jewish, however—that is, non-practicing—no problem)
  •  Atheists (I would not absolutely refuse to hire an atheist, but I’d have some reservations and would have to do some hard thinking; atheists have no moral base on which to make their judgments, so I can’t trust that he wouldn’t steal from the register or something else immoral)
  •  Gay people who make a show of being gay; that is, the gays who act like caricatures of females from another planet. This category also includes public cross-dressers and guys who wear makeup
  •  Blacks who slur their speech and otherwise don’t use acceptable grammar
  •  Whites who slur their speech and otherwise don’t use acceptable grammar
  •  Smokers (I don’t want you taking 10-minute smoke breaks every 30 minutes)
  •  Illegal aliens of any race
  •  Anybody with a thick accent (customers hate not being able to understand store clerks)
  •  Anybody who can’t do the job competently
Anybody else, I’d hire. But that’s just me. Others might refuse to hire Indians because they hate Indians, or refuse to hire redheads, such as me, because they hate redheads. Fine! Who cares? Find a job somewhere else, bring your patronage to another business, stop insisting that everybody has to like you, and stop, for the love of God, stop beseeching the government to enforce friendship!

I'm Pissed: Walter Jones kicked off House committee

Via NC Links and Thinks

Kicking my Ron Paul Republican Walter Jones out is the final straw for me. It's now Tea Party time win, lose or draw. Screw them all.
"You got all my gold; you got my silver.
All that's left is brass and lead...
You want them?"

VERBATIM

U.S. Rep. Walter Jones, a Republican from Farmville, was kicked off the House financial services committee on Monday, according to Roll Call.

Speaker John Boehner initiated the action, targeting what Roll Call labeled "rebellious Republicans."
Roll Call writes:

"The decisions were made by the GOP Steering Committee at a Monday meeting, which reviewed a spreadsheet listing each GOP lawmaker and how often he or she had voted with leadership, three sources said. … All of the lawmakers other than Jones were rebellious right-wingers."

Jones was recently re-elected in the 3rd District, which stretches from Currituck to Onslow County and includes Camp Lejeune. He will start his 10th term in January. He also is a member of the House Committee on Armed Services. A devout Christian, Jones has often chose to vote his conscience over the party line, and has been an outspoken critic of the country's war with Iraq and Afghanistan.

According to a Washington Post database, Jones has voted against Boehner 31 percent of the time, including the House GOP budget plan proposed by Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wisc.

On the finances committee, Jones has championed small businesses. Jones could not immediately be reached for comment.
