Immigration is the new “No Nukes/Save the Whales” movement, only with more body bags.

After the mass murder committed by Muslims in San Bernardino, which came on the heels of the mass murder committed by Muslims in Paris, Donald Trump proposed a moratorium on Muslim immigration.

Explaining the idea on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” he talked about how Muslim immigration was infecting Europe: “Look at what happened in Paris, the horrible carnage. … We have places in London and other places that are so radicalized that the police are afraid for their own lives. We have to be very smart and very vigilant.”

Trump’s reference to London’s no-go zones was met with a massive round of sneering, which is what passes for argument in America these days. Jeb! said Trump was “unhinged,” Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) called him “foolish,” and former vice president Dick Cheney said Trump’s remarks went “against everything we stand for and believe in.” (Based on Trump’s crushing primary victories, Cheney is no longer qualified to say what “we” believe in.)

To prove Trump wrong, reporters called British authorities and asked them: Are you doing your jobs? They responded, Why, yes we are! The head of London’s police said, “Mr. Trump could not be more wrong,” and London mayor Boris Johnson called Trump’s comments “utter nonsense.”

Within days, however, scores of rank-and-file London policemen begged to differ with their spokesmen, leading to the following headlines:

The Islamic State group has trained at least 400 fighters to target Europe in deadly waves of attacks, deploying interlocking terror cells like the ones that struck Brussels and Paris with orders to choose the time, place and method for maximum carnage, The Associated Press has learned. The network of agile and semiautonomous cells shows the reach of the extremist group in Europe even as it loses ground in Syria and Iraq. The officials, including European and Iraqi intelligence officials and a French lawmaker who follows the jihadi networks, described camps in Syria, Iraq and possibly the former Soviet bloc where attackers are trained to attack the West. Before being killed in a police raid, the ringleader of the Nov. 13 Paris attacks claimed to have entered Europe in a multinational group of 90 fighters, who scattered “more or less everywhere.”

Americans have been killed by prisoners released from the detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, a senior Defense Department official told lawmakers Wednesday, triggering sharp criticism from Republicans opposed to shuttering the facility in the wake of deadly attacks by the Islamic State group in Brussels and Paris.

Paul Lewis, the Pentagon's special envoy for Guantanamo detention closure, declined to provide the GOP-led House Foreign Affairs Committee with details. He would not say whether the incidents occurred before or after President Barack Obama took office in January 2009.

"What I can tell you is unfortunately there have been Americans that have died because of (Guantanamo) detainees," Lewis said during an exchange with Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-Calif.

border patrol

National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd told a House Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee Wednesday that cartels cut a hole in a 10-mile stretch of border that had been unmanned for two days and drove two vehicles through it.
“Yesterday, I received an email from an agent in Arizona, and that email said that there was a 10-mile stretch for two days – and this is documented on the reports from the Border Patrol management – 10 mile stretch of border that was unmanned for two days,” Judd said. “Criminal cartels were able to go to the fence, cut a hole in the fence, drive two vehicles through that hole and escape.”

So sad and heartbreaking. I'm deeply sorry, but will remember the happy times. I spent a few weeks some summers working with James and Frankie on Queenfield and at Aunt Elizabeth's funeral James told Dixie a story about me: He said Aunt Ellen Douglas raised Brock with strict manners and one day as we ate cereal on the back porch before going to the fields, Frankie and I picked up our bowls and drank the milk at the end. As Brock looked enviously at us he asked my Mother "Aunt Mary may I do that also?" James always thought that it was hilarious.

"The race is over. Donald Trump will be the next president of the United States."

History will record the moment the tough-talking media and marketing genius sealed the deal as the evening of Monday and the dawn of Tuesday during this Holy Week.

Over a short, intense few hours of momentous world events, Donald Trump revealed that not only does he understand the grave threats that free and civilized people face, but also that he has the wisdom and temperament to be leader of the free world.

Mr. Trump’s address to American Israel Public Affairs Committee Monday night was thoughtful and considered. It was not one of his rambling ad-lib campaign speeches, which are enormously entertaining for supporters but maddening for people trying to piece together his specific policy positions.

At AIPAC, Mr. Trump laid out a clear and concise vision about the threats we and our allies face from the terror and hatred spewing from Islamic radicals in the Middle East. The speech was highly-informed and clearly influenced by the smart people he is listening to around him.

It was one of his first speeches delivered to an audience that wasn’t filled with Republican Party faithful. It was his first major address of the general election. And he aced it.

It Cometh from the Pit:And Hath a Knout

Once upon a time there was a fairy kingdom that lived inside a place called The Beltway, and was surrounded on all four sides by a land called America. The Beltway was aligned with another kingdom called Manhattan, inhabited by disembodied heads that spoke from the walls of bars, and with with yet another closed kingdom called Hollywood, the abode of  half-educated narcissists.

These kingdoms were in eternal political syzygy, and spoke not with the people of the surrounding lands, of whom they knew nothing. The following is a chronicle of what befell them, and why.

After years of peace, the Kingdoms were taken greatly aback by the rise of the Trump Monster, their surprise being proof that they knew nothing of the surrounding lands.

Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich (R) said that “We’ve seen a huge spike in money transfers coming from places like Nogales on the border, to Middle Eastern countries” during the Fox Business Network’s coverage of the Arizona primary on Tuesday.

Brnovich stated [relevant remarks begin around 2:50] “Arizona is on the frontline, and we have seen consequences of what has happened when we’ve had an unsecured porous border. I mean, frankly, just 6 months ago there were 6 folks apprehended from Middle Eastern countries, from Pakistan and Afghanistan, at our border.
