Olivia de Havilland, who played Melanie Wilkes in ‘Gone with the Wind,' has died at 104

Gone With the Wind' Star Olivia de Havilland Dies at 104 – NBC Chicago

Still beautiful.

Olivia de Havilland, who played the sweetest character in movie history so well that no one even hated her for it, died Saturday in Paris. She was 104.

As the saintly Melanie Wilkes in the 1939 epic “Gone With the Wind,” de Havilland set the bar for pure-hearted nobility that few subsequent actresses could ever reach. She also cast Melanie’s shadow over her own career, though she was a world-class old-style movie star in a variety of roles for more than a decade.

Mr. Jones: Netflix totally avoids saying communism even once

Via Greg

The Holodomor was about killing millions of people in the Ukraine for the exact same reason that Mao killed tens of millions of Chinese farmers. Because Communist ‘science’ required it. Which is never mentioned in the movie at all.
In fact there was no communist or Soviet iconography in the film, which was in fact as ubiquitous as Nazi icons were in Nazi Germany. (Early Nazi art was actually taken from Soviet art as we learn in The Soviet Story. A more real attempt to educate rather than deflect.)
Last night I had the chance to watch the docu-drama, Mr. Jones.

While on the one hand, it is refreshing to see any pop culture reference to the Holomodor, something which pretty much no one knows about thanks in no small part to the subject of Mr. Jones, a certain historical class monster, Walter Durante, it is highly disturbing that at no point do they say why it happened.

One Nation Under Anarcho-Tyranny

Michelle Malkin: One Nation Under Anarcho-Tyranny
So the message is loud and clear. When push comes to bloody shove in end-stage America, under the rule of the anarcho-tyrants, we, the law-abiding, are the enemy. Those in uniform sworn to protect and serve will turn their backs on us because their bosses don't answer to the public. They protect and serve the mob.
The America you grew up in is not the America we live in now.

One nation under God? Ha.

Land of the free? Ha.

Domestic tranquility? Ha.

Equal protection under the law? Ha.

The right to bear arms? Ha.

Freedom of speech? Association? Peaceable assembly? Ha. Ha. Ha.

True story out of Danville

Via  Susan

Image may contain: sky and outdoor

A realtor was showing a couple around town. They were transferring from New York. When they passed the first giant battle flag, the couple expressed concern but the realtor explained about the history and heritage of Danville being the last Capital of the Confederacy and they seemed to accept the explanation . When they passed the second flag he repeated the information and the wife, who was seated in the back seat, appeared shaken. After passing a THIRD flag, the wife leans up and whispers into her husband's ear, at which time the man turns to the realtor and tells him that he can cut the house hunting short because they would NOT be moving to Danville, Virginia. It seems our giant beautiful flags serve yet another useful purpose: Yankee/carpetbagger repellent!

State Dept. to Purge “Non-Inclusive” Language in Agency Materials; Traditional Nuclear Family, Stereotypical Gender Roles

In the latest move by a U.S. government agency to appease leftists, the State Department is quietly overhauling language used in agency materials that may be considered exclusionary or offensive.

Judicial Watch obtained a copy of a memo from a State Department source asking the agency’s 69,000 employees to report “outdated and non-inclusive language in Department of State policies, documents or webpages.” The directive was issued this month by the State Department’s Office of Civil Rights (S/OCR) and it provides an “outdated form submission” for employees to note specific examples of what amounts to politically incorrect language that is to be “updated.”

The S/OCR offers several examples to guide employees through the process of reporting policies, documents and web pages that do not use “inclusive” language. This includes obsolete racial terms or language that implies “preference for the traditional nuclear family structure and stereotypical gender roles,” according to the document. Other examples include using the outdated phrase “handicapping condition” rather than the contemporary word “disability.” The widely distributed memo ends by encouraging employees to participate in a process that can easily be compared to Marxist language manipulation. “If you are aware of policies or documents containing outdated language or instances where language could be more inclusive S/OCR would welcome you completing the form at the link below with the relevant outdated language information for our office’s follow-up.”
