A Real Daughter

"AMEN Pitty, that’s what I love about true southerners. We are polite, but don’t mind sharing our feelings. We stopped at a fruit stand on Sunday to buy some strawberries. The gentleman running it told us that the Yankees were driving him crazy. One was even rude and said the berries were cheaper down the street. The vendor said “fine go down the street.” Then the Yankee came back because the berries weren’t as nice down the street and the man wouldn’t sell him any. He said that the man had insulted him AND his berries! LOL"

  1. Brock,

I had the pleasure of meeting a Real Son of the Confederacy. He lives in the adjoining county to mine. He usually attends the SUVCW meetings as a guest and I have also run into him at the Santa Maria Lodge on several occassions. Apparently his dad outlived several wives and he was born from his father's third wife. His father was in his 60's when he was born and he is one of 26 or so brothers and sisters. He is in his upper 80's these days.

My grandpa (96) who passed two years ago could say that his grandpa fought in the Civil War and that was kind of surreal to me but the thought of someone actually walking around today who is able to say that his FATHER fought in the War Between the States is mind boggling to me.
