Dave Goetz is a real Mosby expert as well as a fine Southern gentleman. Dave is in the process of publishing his book on the relationship between Mosby and Ulysses S. Grant. Interestingly enough, Mosby was the only Confederate officer Grant ordered hanged without trial if captured, yet the last thing Grant did before his death was arrange with his friend Leland Sanford for Mosby to have a position in the law department of Sanford's company, the Southern Pacific Railroad. The growth of the two men's friendship over the years is a story that is both of great interest and personally touching. I will be glad when Dave's book becomes available to the general public.
