Passing of KY Div. Commander

Bazz Childress

Dear Compatriots,

It is with deep sadness that I write you today of the news concerning the passing of or Kentucky Division Commander, Bazz Childress. Commander Childress has been a stalwart defender of our Southern Heritage and has devoted his life to the vindication of her cause. He will be sorely missed.

CHILDRESS Basil "Bazz" Dwayne, 55, died at home on Thu, April 5, 2012 of natural causes. Bazz was married to Rachel Smith Childress for 34 years. They have two daughters, Julianna Ruth Smith Childress, 24, of Nashville, TN and Delaney Adele Smith Childress, 18, of Lexington. Bazz is also survived by his mother, GenevaChildress, and aunt, Gereda Childress Ensminger, both of Cleveland, OH. Bazz had a long career in the banking industry, starting with (old) First Security and ending at Traditional Bank when heart disease required him to retire in 2010. The family considers Central Baptist Church its home. Bazz was proud of his Southern heritage. The family invites you to visit with them on Mon, April 9 from 5-9pm at Central Baptist Church, 110 Wilson Downing Road. A memorial service will be held at the Church on Tue, April 10 at 7pm. 1. Sad news to pass along regarding the LS: Kentucky State Chair Bazz Childress has passed – many of you knew him through the LS and SNC conferences. This is shocking as I don’t believe Bazz was more than 50 years, don’t yet know the details of his sad and untimely passing. We have lost a strong fighter in our cause, please keep Bazz and his family in your prayers.

  2. I am sitting here absolutely devastated. I buried my uncle buddy who did 5 tours in Nam yesterday, he was but 4 years my senior. I quit crying about that this afternoon......... just got home saw the mail about Bazz............... went down 2 emails below it and saw where my friend Rick Boswell in Alabama died last night. Rick sent us to Bama to work the tornado cleanup last year....... and he put the first seed $ towards the new CD, because in his words........ he wanted me to turn some words I had bottled up inside me loose on the world...............now I am f----- devastated........I have pics of Bazz on the computer upstairs............. but it has a known virus and I don’t know how to take the pics off without infecting yours or my computer system...sorry.......... Mac Aston has lots of Pics of Bazz...... I will call him if you want......................

  3. This is most sad news indeed. I had just recently spoke with Bazz on the phone for way over an hour. We first met in 02, he was always there for me and mine, and I tried my best to do the same.
The Southron Movement has lost one of it's best.
But, the sadness is not over for I scrolled down 2 emails below the one about Bazz passing, only to learn our very dear friend and fellow Southron supporter Rick Boswell from Alabama had also passed over.
Live every day as if it were your last, that is the best advice I can give.......... and my Dad told me that 50 some years ago........seems he knew what he was talking about.
    RIP Bazz and Rick
