A top U.S. Air Force general is upset that “America’s Ambassadors in Blue” are overwhelmingly white.
Brig. Gen. Christopher M. Short, commander of the 57th Wing at Nellis
Air Force Base, Nevada, said last month in an email obtained by the
website John Q. Public that pilots with the famous “Thunderbirds” should
work harder to find women and minorities to helm the F-16 Flying
Falcon.

What the hell does he expect when most of the minorities in this country figure they can make a better living on the street selling drugs and pimping hos.
ReplyDeleteOf the remaining, or those that choose to get an education beyond high school not all that many are interested in the military, period. After that you have to see how many are interested in his branch of service and can qualify for flight school both mentally and within the the maximum height requirements. Then they have to pass, learn to fly and excell.
Bottom line, it's a numbers game and being a General he should be smart enough to figure that out. If an old E-6 can do it in just a few seconds he should have known off the top of his head.
What we have here is a 'perfumed prince' of a general sucking up to the politically correct sissified version of what the powers that be want to see in their brave new military.

Airplanes or jumpin' out of em' (like me) (BTW I do have a FAA Private pilot's Certificate "ASEL" 'Airplane Single Engine Land') "The Bottom Line!!!" "IS THE GROUND!!!!!"

DeleteI have a question on the topic of placing more minorities and women (and all the other victims groups) into positions where there are too many white males: How does having more of those other people in those roles improve combat effectiveness?
ReplyDeleteDo keep in mind that the standards set for elite positions are the minimum requirements for being able to do the job. While there maybe a certain degree of arbitrariness to them, a standard is needed. So if there is going to be a quote, then the standards will have to be compromised in order to meet that quote of x many from this group and y many from that group. By that logical, the NBA is a racist organization because there aren't any Asian-Americans playing pro-Basket ball. And sexist as well since trans-gendered people are not represented! By the way, I have given all the "social justice losers...ah....warriors" a brand new "injustice" to whine....I mean...crusade about.
Was wondering here too, maybe just maybe we need MORE generals killed in action for them to get a clue as why they have stars and that they too are just like the private, expendable if the mission and the country require it.

At first I thought it was a quote from the duffle blog but I should have know that there are numerous disfunctionals in all walks of life now. Perhaps the general would approve of more affirmative action pilots getting more practice flying around senior military and political leadership in D.C. Some years ago Paul Wellstone,the Minnesota senator, left this world under those circumstances. To survive flight requires good judgement and skill. The general should remain grounded.

To fly jets is highly competitive among the pilots in training. Given the choice would you want to fly a C-130 or C-17 over an A-10 or F-35? Only the ones with the correct physical attributes and the brightest get a chance to fly the fighters. I am not sure about now but in the 80's and 90's I knew pilot trainees that would go to a civilian dentist to have all of their teeth that had fillings pulled as fighter pilots could not have any fillings or crowns as the G-forces would cause them to come out during maneuvers. Those guys are driven and a bit nuts. Most pilots also have engineering degrees - what is the ethnic breakdown of engineering majors?
ReplyDeleteAnother statistic is that the high school graduate that joined the USAF to work on planes is also predominately white. The highly competitive electronics fields also have a majority of the personnel who are white.
Those jobs are filled based on how well an enlistee does on the ASVAB test. The Air Force has lowered the requirements and standards to get more minorities into the high tech schools in the past and those that scored passing with the marginal scores tended to wash out of the courses.
Of the armed services the USAF has the highest standards for enlistment. This is also a factor as people testing lower usually end up going to the other branches of the service. A reality is that with the exception of the orientals most minorities tend to test lower making the more menial jobs in the AF the only carrier fields that they qualify for.
