House GOP: Bills Will Have To Cite Constitution

Civil War anniversary stirs race debate" raised an old debate, but it has surely outlasted the test of time. With very disagreeable views on either side, and myself being a Civil War history buff, I can only speak from my perspective.

The common valor and pride which was instilled in a common cause in which so many a Confederate soldier was to give the ultimate sacrifice cannot be denounced.

It is now instilled in the very fiber of Southerners that will be a hard shell to crack. For all time it will be in the hearts and minds of a proud people that cannot be shaken. The ruin of time has not shaken it from its very foundation, nor from the winds of history.

"Fulfilling one of their most prominent campaign promises, House Republican leaders have unveiled a new rule to require that each bill filed in the House “cite its specific constitutional authority.”

And for those who may have skipped that constitutional law class, Republicans have organized four staff briefings prior to the Jan. 5 start of the 112th Congress to provide guidance on compliance with the new rule. The first session will be Monday at 1 p.m. in the Capitol Visitor Center.

  1. Commerce, Necessary and Proper, and General Welfare all have been distorted out of their original intent meaning as understood by the ratifying conventions. Thomas E. Woods' Nullification discusses in detail.

New Congress can cite away and still abuse away at the same time. A gesture to placate people not paying as close attention to the Constitutionality of the new laws...

They will assume good faith and wonder why government keeps growing and metastasizing...

Precisely. Nullification and/or secession are the only two paths.
