Can you imagine what it was like to be a militiaman called up
to war – against your neighbors? Or what it was like to be a
servant in the royal governor’s home? How about being a kid
in colonial North Carolina? Thanks to a generous grant from
the Harold H. Bate Foundation, you can step into the shoes of
the many different people of eastern North Carolina’s
past and experience what life was like for them.
Event Guidelines
• Passes are required for all Tryon Palace Free Day events
and may be picked up at the North Carolina History
Center Ticket Desk or the Waystation at the corner of
George and Pollock Streets. Discounted tickets for the
Pepsi Family Center and Regional History Museum are
available for $12 for adults, $4 for students.
• All activities taking place on the grounds outside, in
Mattocks Hall and the Activity Classroom are free
and open to the public, along with the
*Bern New Bern*
exhibit in the Duffy Gallery. First floor tours of all
historic buildings and the Palace cellar are also available
at no charge.
• Your Free Day Pass is good for today only. If you would
like to return and tour more of our site, bring your Free
Day Pass with you on your next visit to receive 20% off a
Governor’s Pass or Gardens and Galleries Pass, and 25%
off a Time Traveler’s Pass. These Free Day Pass discounts
are good through June 30, 2011.
• Bring your Free Day Pass to the Museum Store and
receive a 10% discount on great gifts for yourself
and others.
• Adults are welcome to participate in all of the craft
activities, if space is available. The activities are
designed primarily for children, however, so please
allow them priority.
