"Below is a newspaper account of a duel that took place between a Kentuckian and an Englishman in 1812 when the two countries were at the brink of war. Readers of the Niles Weekly Register, from which this clipping was taken,
will detect a rising patriotic fervor."
VERY interesting!!!
ReplyDeleteWhere and how do you find this stuff?
:)
ReplyDeleteAn inch apart at 30feet (or 60? if each took ten steps) isn't bad.
ReplyDeleteI have a .50 Cal. Trapper that's a front stuffer and it's more accurate at 25 yards than the .44 Colt Navy.

ReplyDeleteI assumed they both took 10 steps as that is how I remember duels in the past, but the way it reads, now that you have brought my attention to it, seems to indicate that they would each take only 5 steps which is much too close. I'll publish the rules from my NamSouth site in another post and thanks.
