  1. Brock:

Marilyn Monroe is my first cousin, or so it is claimed by one of my uncles, although nobody else in our family believes him, or takes it seriously.

Allegedly (according to another uncle's research), she is the biological daughter of my Uncle Ernest.

We're also distantly related to Ernest Borgnine through marriage, and because of that same marriage, connected to the Mafia through an Italian countess who even has a castle in Italy.

No, I've never been to Italy, nor seen my aunt's castle.

All but one of my uncles and aunts are now deceased, and I haven't seen any of my cousins in many, many years.

Although I take all of this family lore with a grain of salt, a cousin on the FACEBOOK social networking web site swears every bit of it is true.

Anyway, even if it isn't true, it still makes a good story, don't you reckon?

    Thank you.

  3. My dad swears by it and I too take it with a grain of salt. I don't think we'll ever know for sure, though I do know about Ernest Borgnine and that is true, but we also have I think 2 but definetly at least one Benjamin Franklin in the family...not THAT Benjamin Franklin but Benjamin Franklin Mallernee.
Also my wife is currently (and for the past 3 years) listed in the guiness book of world records as having the largest elephant collection. Back then it was about 5,700 but now is over 7,000 unique elephants. and a friend of hers is competing, he is the owner of a circus, he claims to have 12,000 but many are duplicates, and duplicates aren't supposed to count. If you look it up she is listed as Janet Briley but it's actually Janet Mallernee-Briley.
