President Ron Paul to Slash Own Salary

Godfather Politics
VERBATIM POST
========

According to sources close to the Ron Paul campaign, the Republican candidate for President should be releasing part of his agenda later today in Las Vegas. But if the sources are correct, Paul is about to shake the foundations of Capitol Hill.

One of the first things to be unveiled is Ron Paul’s plan to drop his salary as President to the same salary as the average American, which according to the latest statistics is $39,336. That would result in a savings to taxpayers of $360,664 per year as the base salary for President is $400,000.

Next on Paul’s agenda will be to eliminate the Departments of the Interior, Commerce, Energy, Education, Housing and Urban Development. Certain vital programs currently handled by these five departments would be transferred to another department to manage such as the Pell grants currently run by the Department of Education.

The same sources say that there are more details that will be revealed with his announcement later today.

It will be interesting to follow as these types of things may sound very inviting to the general public, while at the same time it will have the political professionals in Washington DC in an uproar.
