  1. Some .gov union member is already in charge of setting up those machines. All they have to do is use the thumb drive they got at the union hall the day before to pie the results.

  2. This is EASILY fixable - for less than $100 per machine.

All it would take is to attach a simple receipt printer like those used on countless register-PCs.

When the voter hits "submit", the system would print the voter's choices to the receipt printer.

The outer/top copy would be torn off and given to the voter so he could check his votes were recorded as intended. He could then take it with him or feed it into a shredder or whatever.

The inner/bottom copy would be coiled up inside the machine, to provide a means for conducting a recount/verification of the vote totals in the event of a challenge.

Anyone who's ever had to run a "Z" on a cash-register should recognize both the tech and the procedure - it really couldn't be any simpler!

  4. So...

    Why isn't it DONE?

Some college kids proved - all the way back in '06 - that it would be TRIVIAL to steal any election! ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwWP-N1HqT0 )!

The ONLY thing stopping this is the cheesy, $0.50 lock on the side!

Almost anyone could pick the cheesy lock on these things within SECONDS - WHILE VOTING - ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfGvSJA20-Y )install their malware and be gone! A few conspirators could take over a whole city, county, state or country!

Also, it seems these things already HAVE a printer installed - thus it would be even SIMPLER (and almost FREE!) to have it print out after each vote - we'd just need to provide some sort of lock-box to keep the printouts in for recount purposes!

It might also be necessary to provide a different plastic piece to have the paper come out the top while the lid is in place -- still, this would be TRIVIAL -
