We grew up in north central NH and besides the uphill both ways I can tell you we did not have to do it barefoot. The great part was we only had one pair of boots so my brother and I alternated days we would go to school. How we looked forward to those hard winters. Fall and spring we did not need the boots so we both had to go every day. Next best thing to being home schooled.... :)
