In the real world, the panhandling guy would use his proceeds to buy MD-20-20. The woman with the kid wouldn't care about a job because welfare pays MUCH better. The "gentlemen" at the fire-barrel would rob Mr. Panhandler of his wine, beating him half to death in the process. The teenage runaway would be property of some psychotic pimp, hooked on crack or heroin, and wouldn't dare go ANYWHERE.
I could go on, but... That's why I said "if only"...
