Is Obama Using The IRS To Silence Opposition Voices?

Via Don, L&P

Many of us joke about being audited by the IRS because our views are not in sync with the White House. President Obama himself has even joked about it back in 2009, when a visit to Arizona State University caused many to speak up against the President receiving an honorary degree.

That was back in 2009. And it was a joke, right?

Or was it?

In just the past week, we have received emails from various Tea Party groups around the country alerting us to the oppressive demands being sent to them from the IRS.

And so we ask the question: Is the Obama administration using the IRS to wage a war against opposition voices like the Tea Party?

One of the groups currently dealing with the government’s overreach is the Ohio Liberty Council Corp.

The OLC’s President, Tom Zawistokowski, posted a letter on the group’s website detailing the timeline of the their efforts to gain non-profit status and the recent demand for documents made by the IRS. In the letter Tom states:

  1. Not a new tactic by any means and used by both sides in the past. The real problem is that the IRS gladly takes part in the subjugation of the people. In fact it seems their only reason for existance...

"The IRS is an extraordinary example of the end justifying the means. The means of this agency is growth. It is interesting that the revenue officers within the IRS refer to taxpayers as 'inventory'. The IRS embodies the political realities of the selfish human desire to dominate others. Thus the end of this gigantic pretense of officialdom is power, pure and simple. The meek may inherit the earth, but they will never receive a promotion in an agency where efficiency is measured by the number of seizures of taxpayers' property and by the number of citizens and businesses driven into bankruptcy." George Hansen

Most people have never heard of Representative George Hansen served the state of Idaho for about 14 years in total. He was the first to advocate a flat tax if only as a means to escape the brutality of the IRS. He was wrongly tried for crimes he did not commit, convicted, sentenced and tortured during his time in prison all because of his beliefs. The Supreme Court years later over turned his conviction. I came across some information in him and looked up the quotes the other day on a great site for finding quotes which I will post below. Hansen wrote two books: To harass our people: The IRS and government abuse of power and How the IRS Seizes your dollars and How to fight back. I am trying to locate the books and will also see if my wife can find them on Kindle.
