The Museum of the Confederacy has a large collection of photographs, many collected from Civil War battlefields. Since most of the soldiers who died in the Civil War did not carry identification, the Museum works hard to identify the people in the photographs in order to provide a more complete, personal history of the Civil War and the men who fought and died in it. While it has done a tremendous job in this mission, a handful of the photographs in its collection have left them completely stumped.
