That's actually pretty slick - I wonder if it could handle a double-stack such as he's running in his mag-well without interfering with typical use?
If so, I'd think that'd be the fastest way to handle reloads...
I can see other uses for this as well - keep tracers in the buttstock mag, thus making it easy to point out where you want your troop to concentrate their fire, for example... Switch mags, fire a couple tracers, switch back...

I actually carry it around with a doublestack in both. It looks a little over the top, but I'm used to standing out.
