The nation is quickly coming to a place where there is no escape; the truism that as defined in the Constitution of the United States of America has no contradiction;" the South was well within its legal rights to separate itself from the broken contract forged with those of the North who opposed that separation". There are a lot bills that would come due payable to the people and region of the South, if the whole of the nation come to accept this fact.
Southern social and cultural genocide must take place because this is where the aforementioned idea festers and permeates into the thinking process of the citizenry. First break their spirit, (attack the one symbol that defines them as Southern); " the Confederate Battle Flag"
~ Brother H. K. Edgerton
While the battle flag is the most powerful symbol, we have many more. There are other flags, there are monuments, songs, poems (I think), and regional dialects and vocabulary. I have been listening to Irish and Scottish music on you tube and reading about Scotland's sovereignty movement. Ireland, of course, is mostly independent and has been for almost a hundred years. Both of these peoples have many distinctive symbols.
ReplyDeleteI think we would be better served to push these other symbols more while continuing to defend the battle flag. As it is, there is only one front in the war, and every flag that comes down makes the revisionists look stronger. If we open up more fronts, we dictate the battlefield and could easily overwhelm them. The court of public opinion would swing in our favor if every week some official was coming down on some folk song or flag that most don't recognize. It would get absurd to those who don't realize that a culture war has been raging for 150 years.
Just a thought.
Wow. That's a lot longer than I realized.

DeleteGetting that going would be the problem. Have you seen the one below?

Maybe we have some allies we haven't considered.
Delete"Getting that going would be the problem."
Your the one with military experience, how do we do it?
The way I see it, we're dancing to their tune. As long as they dictate the music, it'll always be the Star Spangled Banner. We have to form our own band if we want to hear Dixie.

Delete:)! Yes and we try mightily. Many, many things have been tried over the years, but dealing with men of no honor is a failing proposition and why there is only one recourse left.
A few years ago one of my Asheville sisters reported attending a Marchbanks family reunion, in, I think, Landrum SC, where my great-grandmother, Rebecca Malinda Marchbanks, was born. She said they sang the Confederate National Anthem and pledged allegiance to a Confederate flag. I can't find such a song on a search engine. Anybody know anything about this?
ReplyDeleteSuccess. I found it with DuckDuckGo. Here are the lyrics I found. The music is also on other sites.
"God save the South, God save the South,
Her altars and firesides, God save the South!
Now that the war is nigh, now that we arm to die,
Chanting our battle cry, "Freedom or death!"
Chanting our battle cry, "Freedom or death!"
II.
God be our shield, at home or afield,
Stretch Thine arm over us, strengthen and save.
What tho' they're three to one, forward each sire and son,
Strike till the war is won, strike to the grave!
Strike till the war is won, strike to the grave!
III.
God made the right stronger than might,
Millions would trample us down in their pride.
Lay Thou their legions low, roll back the ruthless foe,
Let the proud spoiler know God's on our side.
Let the proud spoiler know God's on our side.
IV.
Hark honor's call, summoning all.
Summoning all of us unto the strife.
Sons of the South, awake! Strike till the brand shall break,
Strike for dear Honor's sake, Freedom and Life!
Strike for dear Honor's sake, Freedom and Life!
V.
Rebels before, our fathers of yore.
Rebel's the righteous name Washington bore.
Why, then, be ours the same, the name that he snatched from shame,
Making it first in fame, foremost in war.
Making it first in fame, foremost in war.
VI.
War to the hilt, theirs be the guilt,
Who fetter the free man to ransom the slave.
Up then, and undismay'd, sheathe not the battle blade,
Till the last foe is laid low in the grave!
Till the last foe is laid low in the grave!
VII.
God save the South, God save the South,
Dry the dim eyes that now follow our path.
Still let the light feet rove safe through the orange grove,
Still keep the land we love safe from Thy wrath.
Still keep the land we love safe from Thy wrath.
VIII.
God save the South, God save the South,
Her altars and firesides, God save the South!
For the great war is nigh, and we will win or die,
Chanting our battle cry, "Freedom or death!"
Chanting our battle cry, "Freedom or death!""
Better to die on your feet than live on your knees, the Kurdish Peshmerga fighters say. And so said my Scottish Marjoribanks and my German Schmidt forebears. I have to keep the faith for them. Freedom never lasts. It must be won by each generation. This is our time. The Wisconsin union thugs convince me that I'll live to see the another round of freedom fighting. Let it come.

Yes, Sir.
DeleteI SALUTE THE CONFEDERATE FLAG WITH AFFECTION, REVERENCE AND
UNDYING DEVOTION TO THE CAUSE FOR WHICH IT STANDS.
Thanks. I had not yet found the flag salute. And I prefer the word salute to pledging allegiance.
ReplyDeleteI read that the founders would be horrified to know that we (not me, though) pledge allegiance to the flag and not the Constitution.
