OK I'm throwing the bullshit flag! Although this will stop 5.56 ball and 7.62 ball It WILL NOT stop .30.06 cal. AP. There are at least 5 video's on you tube of guys shooting Patriot plate and AR-500. All of them fail to stop ammunition cal. 30 M-2AP. Guys this ammo was made to punch through German Krupp armory steel 10 MM thick out to 200 yards! Now don't get me wrong this is a great armor deal, as nobody still uses M-2AP except for a few cranks (like me) with M-1's or 1903's. The feds don't use it ,nor do the LEO's, and Patriot armor will stop ALL .30 (7.62) NATO and 5.56 COLD. It just won't turn you into superman.
"Anonymous" I wish you would read what is said before throwing a "BS" flag on something you do not fully understand. It is TESTED against .30 M2 AP ammunition and must meet the following requirements: TABLE V. Thickness ranges and corresponding test projectiles for first article testing. Nominal thickness range, in Obliquity, degrees Test ProjectileTable 0.118 to 0.300 incl. 30 Cal .30 AP, M2 per TABLE A-I TABLE A-I. Minimum required ballistic limits - caliber .30 AP M2 projectile at 30 degrees obliquity.0.250" thick BL(P), ft/sec2232 http://www.titussteel.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/46100E_spec.pdf
It is not guaranteed to stop .30AP at 90 degrees, in that you are correct but it is tested and must meet the requirements of MIL-46100E. PP meets those requirements and is certified to have met those requirements. The distiction between this, Patriot Plate and AR500 grade steel (I'm using the steel grade, NOT the dealer of that name) is that PP is made from ARMOR GRADE steel and is not Abrasion Resistant steel (that's where the AR comes from. Anyone that believes wearing any body armor will turn them into Superman would be better suited to just painting an "S" on their chest and saving the money. I suggest that anyone who wants an education on armor plate contact Doc at Maingun.
