Ben Carson: America now in 'pre-fascist' era

Saul Alinsky or Alexander Solzhenitsyn? Whose path will America follow?

Dr. Ben Carson, a noted author, brain surgeon and possible Republican candidate for president, says the country has already gone far down the path of Alinsky, but it’s not too late to pull back from the brink of authoritarian socialism.

As Americans prepared to celebrate their freedom this Independence Day, Carson sat down with WND founder and CEO Joseph Farah and offered a sobering view of the current state of the country.

In the light of NSA spying, government taking over health care and the IRS intimidating tea-party activists, Farah asked if there were any lessons that could be drawn from Solzhenitsyn’s experience living under Soviet communism during the Cold War.

“I remember back in the day, Solzhenitsyn was asked ‘what went wrong in the Soviet Union’ and what made it the nightmare police state that it was?” Farah said. “And he said, ‘We forgot about God.’”

Carson agreed with that assessment. He said he encourages people to read the works of not just Solzhenitsyn, but those of his historic adversaries – Vladimir Lenin, Karl Marx and Alinsky.

  1. I highly respect Dr. Carson but I think he missed the mark on this a bit. I believe we have already reached the point of a Fascist state. Fascism is a government system where business is owned by private entities but under the control of or at least highly
cooperative with the government. Obama has done a fine job of co-opting corporate America by giving any large corp. that will play ball with him special favors, big contracts and exemptions from legislation or regulations. He's even co-opted Wal-Mart to a degree. Meanwhile he increases control over small business to the point of forcing them out of business with the same laws and regs. that he exempts for the bigs that play ball with him. If that isn't Fascism I don't know what is. Mussolini couldn't have done better.

      Well said.

  2. It's missing the hyper nationalism characteristic of Fascism. Obama and his progressives envision the end of the nation state, hence his encouragement of unlimited immigration. The faster he and his cronies can erase national differences, the better. Note that the idea of "multi culturism" is another tool toward this goal. If we are all co equal, there is really no difference.

  3. Let us not forget the Fascist takeover of GM and Chrysler in those early days of Soetoro's reign. Dealerships taken over and given to political cronies. UAW, how did that all work out for you?
There is no hyper-nationalism with Soetoro et.al. because they hate America - another reason to just call a spade a spade - We are being destroyed by our own traitorous government who are tools & perpetrators simultaneously.

      Right to the point.
