A man was arrested for disorderly conduct and obstructing justice when he refused to stop spraying water on a brush fire that had ignited in a field behind his home.

The incident happened on July 4th in a field located behind a row of houses. At approximately 9:30 p.m., some brush caught fire due to errant use of fireworks. Spectators quickly assisted and one woman called 9-1-1 for help.

“An apparent spark lit a tree over there from an old orchard on fire,” said 36-year-old Santaquin resident, Jason Thornton. “Myself, my two nephews, and a few neighbors rushed to action, got our hoses out, contained the fire to one tree, waiting for the fire department to show up.”

Mr. Thornton continued: “While fighting the fire, somebody said, ‘stop!’ I told them, ‘no’ in a very unpolite way. He told me again to stop. I said, ‘No, I’m manning this fire. I’m not stopping until the fire department gets here.

  1. This stupidity MUST stop. I am not sure I know the answer on how but here is an idea. Why don’t we take a page from the left and burry them in lawsuits. Sue every government branch involved and every single officer we can. It is time we sue the city or county, the police department, the dumb cop, his boss and his boss’s boss. Sue them over stupid things like this and every time they violate our Constitutional rights and stop someone legally filming in a public place. With luck some can hit the lawsuit lottery at worst we cost them money and lots of it. If we wish to remain free, it is time we begin to attack back and respond to the new normal of the Criminal Cops.

    1. If they could be sued individually, then all this crazy stuff would come to a screaming halt.

    2. Sounds good to me. I'll chip in. I guess it's the next best thing to refusing to file and pay them their extortion money. Nobody seems to have the balls to do that. Yet.

  2. Until every LEO can be sued individually, and made to personally pay substantial judgments, the acts of stupidity by LEO will continue unabated.

    1. Sure won't be any time soon is *this* new form of madness continues...

  3. The soap box. The ballot box and the jury box have ALL FAILED. If you TRY to sue a cop he will laugh at you. The Badge Nazi scum have nothing but contempt for our lives our families and our property. The only thing that they fear is naked force. This is the ONLY reason that they backed off at the Bundy ranch and the primary reason that they(the police) are the driving force behind the call for universal gun confiscation. They can and will hunt down and murder anyone at any time without the slightest provocation; KNOWING that they will never be punished in any way by the system. The ONLY thing that they fear are the families of the victims of their evil. The Courts are worthless. Voting is useless. The system is rigged from top to bottom. The only way we can make this system of violent oppression by these modern day death squad wannabes stop, is to FORCE that change, and I have seen precious few men with the old fashioned guts to try anything to save themselves. The only reason this will continue is because we let it, and because we are too afraid to acknowledge that there is only one way left to MAKE it stop. We may not be at war with them , but they shure as hell ARE at war with us.--Ray

  4. This crap has been going on for years. The firemen have been indoctrinated by the government even back well into the Bush years and maybe before on regulations on
how they must handle a scene. The cops I'm sure get the same thing. I know of one instance where an old lady near my home had a hired man burning yard debris in a perfectly legal manner in her back yard. Someone saw the smoke coming up above the house and called 911. Even though the fire house is less than 1/2 mile away and at least 2 of the leaders of that volunteer dept. live in the same subdivision with the fire, no one bothered to ride by and see what was going on. Instead they loaded up a big crew cab pumper truck with men and tore down to her house where they "took command of the scene". The old lady is very feisty and she told them plainly that she hired the man to burn the debris and that he had it under control (which he did with water hose in hand). She told them they were trespassing on her land. They told her that as soon as the 911 call came in that her land was THEIRS and she had no say in it. They put out a half burned pile of bushes and small limbs and left an ugly mess.

The same department a year or two before that shut down a major, 4 lane US Highway and re-routed heavy traffic through a 2 lane, 45 mph road lined with houses for several hours until a hazmat team could get there to clean up a chemical spill.

Sounds reasonable right? Well it does until you know that the chemical spill was a 3 gallon stainless steel spray tank that fell off a pest control companies pickup truck.
You've all seen one of those tanks. It's the same one the bug man brings in your house or office or your kids school or favorite restaurant and sprays around the baseboards. The pest company told them it was not harmful but they wouldn't listen.
I knew the fire chief well. I asked him why. He said they had no choice that it was a regulation tied to the federal funds they use to buy equipment and they had to follow it by the book.

Same with the cops. If that guy had put up a fight over the water hose the cop would have shot him and the DA would have said it was "by the book".

Probably. Seems like there was an instance quite a while back when some sort of responders did nothing and someone drowned because of some idiotic regulation.
