FDNY Drops Physical Fitness Test Requirement to Boost Female Hire Rate

This outta' work well........

In a somewhat controversial move, the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) has dropped the physical test requirement for probationary firefighters. The move was done in part to increase the number of female members in FDNY.
From the New York Post:
The Fire Department has stopped requiring probationary firefighters to pass a job-related physical-skills test before getting hired — a move that critics derided as a lowering of standards.
The move by first-year Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro, which allows probies to fail components of the Functional Skills Training test but still graduate from the Fire Academy, comes amid criticism of the department’s low hiring rate of women.

  1. There are just some positions that women do not belong in and I am a woman....
unless your a trammey. My father was in the military and no women worked
on base except civil service. All the clerks were men except the secretary to
the General. The hospital staff was primarily men except for female nurses.

Though our betters aren't concerned since it brings us ever closer to the collectivist state that they desire.

  2. In the darkest hours of 9/11 the ideals of American manliness, courage, and strength never shone brighter than in the images of the FDNY at Ground Zero. In fact, I'd say the iconic image of the firefighter staring straight into the camera that captured him climbing the stairs of the North Tower had a world-wide impact. While this new policy will never diminish my respect for this great institution, it pains me greatly to see it being treated this way. There is, well was, a reason for physical fitness testing.

Absolutely and lowered standards will result in more deaths, no ifs, ands or buts.
