List of Sanctuary cities

Via Terry

sactuary cities
Sanctuary city is a name given to a city in the United States that follows certain procedures that shelters illegal immigrants. These procedures can be by law (de jure) or they can be by action (de facto). The term most commonly is used for cities that do not permit municipal funds or resources to be applied in furtherance of enforcement of federal immigration laws.  These cities normally do not permit police or municipal employees to inquire about one's immigration status. The designation of Sanctuary City” has no legal meaning.

  1. So if these cities can ignore federal law why can any other city ignore the SCOTUS homo marriage ruling? How is that any different?

I actually support States and cities being able to declare themselves sanctuary cities if that is what the people want. However, it must also apply equally to EVERY city and State on EVERY issue they choose to apply it to except those enumerated given to the federal government in the Constitution.

On second thought, immigration IS one of those enumerated powers so declaring themselves to not follow federal law in that circumstance would most likely be unconstitutional. They still have opened the door to other cities and States using the same arguments they do to oppose federal laws they don't agree with.

Of course, that is the way the Founders intended for things to work anyways.

  2. I sincerely apologize that Texas has several sanctuary cities, although I had nothing to do with it. I invite the Feds to invade the state and fine these cities $millions in damages. I will ask our license plate discrimination governor why he doesn't do something about it.

    1. Well, if they did invade, then maybe we could take DC. :)
