"Mommy, Am I Gonna Die?": Cop Aims For Dog, Shoots 4 Year Old, After Injured Mom Calls 911

Via avordvet

Mace, asshole.

To Protect and Serve? When Whitehill resident Andrea accidentally cut her arm on glass, her sister frantically called 911, "I need a paramedic." Columbus Police Officer Jon Thomas responded to the house where he pulled out his gun and shot toward the family's dog (which he claims ran toward him), missed, and hit Andrea's four-year-old daughter Ava in the leg, shattering her bone.

  2. What any LEO should understand is that many dog owners consider a dog not merely as a pet or a working animal, but in addition have a very strong emotional bond to that animal. I jokingly refer to my dogs as my 4 legged children. I also live in a neighbor hood where every 3rd or 4th house has a dog. A LEO ought to know how to behave around a dog and understand canine behavior. I suspect that Office Thomas is lying, in claiming the dog ran toward him (implying the dog was attacking him).
I've got a Huskie-mix that loves people and it the type that you can NOT give him too much attention or affection. He is always happy and his entire body language shows it. Give him a treat and you have a friend for life. Shooting the family dog is one offense that I do not forgive.
I am also pissed off over the double standard that will excuse a LEO for his criminal and irresponsible handling of firearm, that if done by any one else would result in criminal charges filled against that person. Hypocrisy!

    1. A year or so ago, my next door neighbor's dog kept getting out and I told the man, but then he ended up in my back yard, then attacked the UPS girl and if I hadn't screamed, she would have probably been bitten, so I called the cops and the dog attacks him, but he just shoots it with mace. The neighbor doesn't speak to me anymore since he got a $100 fine, but he would have been in much more trouble if I hadn't intervened with the UPS girl. Takes all kinds.

  3. Officer got there at the right time? For what, to shoot the 4 year old in the leg? I see criminal negligence.

  4. EVERY officer should have a body cam, the information should be public, and any officer who turns off a recording device prosecuted and if found guilty, spend a few weeks in jail along with being fired.

  5. She could have called the BATF. They would have burned the house down killing everyone.

  6. There better be a lawsuit over this. I want to know if this police department is one that is being trained by the Feds. If this were my dog that was shot, I would haunt that cop until the day he died; if you get my meaning. Shooting the child and giving aid? POS!

    1. Not giving aid should have the individual fired without a thought.
