Idaho rancher’s wife: ‘I saw them murder my husband’

Via Terry

The downed bull lies on the road and bleeds out just beyond the family’s ATV on U.S. 95. The emergency responders in the background are unidentified. The body of Jack Yantis was on the road to the left at the time.

The family of an Adams County rancher involved in an encounter with two sheriff’s deputies says the deputies killed him in a “completely unjustified” shooting.

Survivors of Jack Yantis, the 62-year-old who died a week ago in the darkness on U.S. 95 north of Council, say they will pursue claims against Adams County for Yantis’ death.

Donna Yantis spent her 63rd birthday Thursday at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, where she has been recovering from a heart attack she suffered after her husband was killed.

Family members have shared with the Statesman their account of what happened last Sunday night.

The account is in written statements prepared with attorneys the family hired after the incident, a video statement Donna Yantis made from her Boise hospital bed, and a draft transcript the lawyers prepared of one family member’s account of what happened.

The Statesman also interviewed several family members, including Rowdy Paradis, a nephew of the couple’s who said he witnessed the shootings.

  1. The bull would have been shot and put out of it's misery, taken somewhere to be buried, and the car would have taken off to be repaired or junked,

And everybody would have went on with their life as usual.

    But for the deputies.

It's past time for things like this to stop.

    Flash-banging babies, beating-up mentally-handicapped people, shooting/killing adults/kids/dogs because they ( fill in the blank ).

Just who are the 'terrorists', anyways?

I know who THEY say they are, but actions speak louder than words.

I know, I know.....I wasn't there when all these things happened, so who am I to say whose fault it was.

But one thing I DO know; none of these things would have happened if the PEACE officers hadn't been there, either.

Precisely the problem, as they are few and far between these days.

  2. Yup....I told you what happened when I first heard the rancher had a rifle. He went to put down the bull, but the stupid gun happy deputies fired on the guy. They let that poor bull lay wounded for 2 hours while he bled out after shooting him multiple times.
Stupid bastards. I live in open range country and we have accidents like this, sometimes. Our deputies don't do shit like this. Can't believe this happened in Idaho.
